In all honesty I am an animal person I wouldn't kill the dogs as much as I would want to kill the owner for not being considerate. Talk to the owner/neighbor and hopefully he keeps them quiet. If he is an arse call the cops to pay him a visit.

We had this same aggravating problem. Finally had to send the Constable to talk to them about the basics of being civil and peaceful neighbors. No probs after that for about a year.

Two months ago the bank foreclosed on the property and sold it at a sheriff's sale. New owner is fixing it up to flip here shortly so we're gonna have to school a new fam I'm betting.

Many people raised like dogs and don't know the basics I guess.

I had a neighbor with a beagle that would bark it's head off when they'd be away from the house. They're home = no barking, they're gone = 1 bark per second until they returned. It sucked. I bought a super bark stopper and mounted it pointed towards the fence where the dog liked to bark. Peace at last, peace at last. Eventually, a thunderstorm killed the bark stopper, but I had already trained the dog to not bark there, so it had some lasting effects.

I had this situation once, years ago. Not saying this will work, but worth a try. (and it didn't happen fast)

I knocked on the door, and politely said, "I don't know if you realize this but you're dog is making a lot noise, generally disturbing everyone around here, and then at night when it barks he's keeping me from getting sleep, therefore I'm not able to perform at work. Can you help me out somehow?"

I got where I would go do this every couple days. The husband was non-committal and less bothered by my requests. So anytime the dog barked and the husband's car wasn't home, I'd go knock and complain to his wife.

Each visit was just a little different, but I never threatened them. Just told them the situation and asked if they could help.

Their answers varied, but at least I was now disturbing them.

Finally one day, the dog disappeared. I really don't know what happened, but I'd like to think the wife told hubby that she was tired of me knocking on their door.

So many times I laid in the bed listening to that dog bark and ALMOST just blasting up the air with my handgun. Seems like I did shoot some fireworks pretty close to their house late one night. Ha.. I said "house". This was in my college days, living in a trailer-house.

Firecrackers

This is your answer. No need to wait till midnight, wait till the barking starts and at that time lob a few (40-50) into the area. Get ready for the barking to start again and as soon as it does, give 'em 40-50 more. Rinse and repeat. Give this two nights and the dogs will be trained.

I see 3 great ideas on this page;
====
a super bark stopper

target the wife, in a non threatening way [ dog is now gone ]

firecrackers, whenever they bark.
