Long live the creepy story thread.
I have a lucid dream that I will post soon. The absolute most terrifying experience with sleep I have ever had. I've never had anything else like it since...

That Woke Up In Chicago story is creepy as frick
Posted on 12/24/13 at 9:11 am to Ellis Dee
I read the whole Chicago thing, and everytime I had to click on a link to see one of the 'pictures' I had to hold my hand in front of most of my line of sight just to prevent against some cheap scare ha. Volume off of course.

The year is 1986 in Hattiesburg Mississippi I'm at a pay phone calling home. This was before we all had cells. I hear a loud noise across the high way. It's a wreck of some kind. I run over to see what happen. I'm the first one there. It's a old Datsun pickup. I start looking to see where the driver is. The small pickup had flipped looked like several times. I walk to the other side. There are 5 kids and two parents all laying around on the ground. I ask if everyone is ok. The dad says he thinks so. He is pinned under the car. Kids are laying everywhere. Mom is breathing but is out cold. Looks like all the kids are beat up maybe a few broken bones. I ask the dad how many kids he has. He says 6. Now remember this is a small pickup. Old no seat belts. I start counting and realize I'm one short. I kinda drawn in and there is one child still in the truck neck broke dead. I can't believe what I saw. I'm upset try to get up to the road to get some help. When a guy comes stumbling up from a car that had stopped a 100 yards up from the wreck. This guys says hey I kinda hit that little truck is everyone ok. I can smell him a mile away. He drunk as Ottis of of Andy Griffith. I tell him sir one of the children were killed. He says that's terrible. I almost killed him myself. Troopers got there shortly and found a case of beer and half a bottle of whiskey in the guys car. To this day I can see that poor child trapped inside the truck limp.
For real? You should have killed him!

Cliff notes on Woke Up In Chicago?
Posted on 12/24/13 at 9:33 am to hg
Spoilers? I guess
Dude disappears, wakes up in Chicago. Friends get weird texts and pics from him. They check out his place and its being overrun with some weird force. Friends start to lose it too.
That's essentially it, but the storytelling was unique (to me) bc the whole thing was told on reddit from the first person pov of the friends.

Guy wakes up in a hotel room in Chicago with no recollection of how he got there. He has his gf's cell phone. He texts a friend of his from it and is directed by her to a reddit thread that was started by said friend when the guy turned up missing and strange things began happening at his apartment complex.
All I can give you without ruining it. It's pretty intricate and quite an enjoyable read if you have the time to go through it piece by piece.

I have two that happened to me:
One night coming back from Hammond to BR we stopped at a rest area that was deserted. After leaving the bathroom the pay phone rang. A guy in our group answered it and the guy on the other end described all of us and mumbled some other crap. We looked around and found nothing. Don't know where the guy was but he was obviously close cause it was pitch black and this was in the early 90's, so cell phones were hard to come by.
The other happened to me as a kid. I saw a guy in our neighborhood who looked suspicious. He was wearing coveralls and acting like he was checking gas meters. I will never forget his face cause he looked like an albino who dyed his hair. Anyway, I left for a friends house while my parents were out of town. I returned to our house before my parents did but knew I could get in through a small window only I could squeeze in. I luckily didn't make any noise entering cause as soon as I passed the hallway the albino came out of a bedroom. I saw his face but he never saw me pass. I hauled arse out of the front door and slammed it behind me hoping to scare him. Ran a 4.2 forty to the neighbors and called 911. Guy was never caught but I stopped him from whatever he was up to. Years later, I mean 20 plus, I see the guy at a mardi gras parade. Even though he was much older I still froze when I saw his face

I'm pretty sure Woke Up in Chicago is fake, but it is a riveting read nonetheless

My son came down from his bedroom the other morning and said "the strangest thing just happened. When I got out I bed and walked to the door, the stuffed giraffe that was on my bed flew across the room and hit me in the back."
I went upstairs to his room alone and saw his giraffe on the floor near the door. He was the only one upstairs when this supposedly happened.
He didn't make a big deal out of it so I'm not sure if he was joking or not. Creeped me out.
