Couple of things here, I have several watches I rotate depending on the necessity. Hublot is my favorite brand of watch primarily due to the fact not many people wear them. You can find a very nice Big Bang steel within your price range. I have a Big Bang Black Magic 44 and its a fantastic time piece. For flying, rolex GMT II or the Brietling Navtimer both fantastic pieces. Last is the Cartier Rhonde Solo. That is the dress up watch.

First pick out what you need. Everyday watch - Rolex/Breitling/Omega simple time piece. But if you want Chorno/Complicated you just increased the cost

Check out Jomashop.com also if you walk into any store (Lee Michaels, Aucoin, tourneau, etc) just tell them upfront you want to try on watches to see what you like best. Never tell them you've made up your mind or else you'll never hear the end of it from them.

I've purposely stayed away from Rolex. I like them. I just wanted something different from the masses. I know Gaston is the same way. But I think I can afford a Rolex.

I am the same way. I can afford whatever I want, but I normally like to be a little different. Most people love a Rolex because they feel its a status symbol, but I prefer to stay with other brands to be a little different. Don't get me wrong, Rolex has some fine arse watchs, I just prefer to stay away from main stream.

I love my Tag, but I hate that its the watch everyone wants and buys as soon as they can. As least its that away in the LC area. But it was a gift from my wife and she didn't know any better. Its a fine watch and has held its value good and will last me a life time, Its just not my favorite.

and I agree with others, find the watch that works for you. On an everyday basis I wear a simple Gshock or my samsung gear watch to work as I work in and out the chemical plants and I would never wear a nice watch in there because forgetting to take it off one time could ruin a nice watch in there. Only takes one time.

Cant be serious with this? you do realize that Breitling has watches that are as much or more than Rolex right?

Rolex is a timeless classic watch but Breitling is 100% in the same class. And your statement is ignorant as hell.

Those chemicals will eat a rubber seal and you'll never know it.

Yep, but honestly in the plant I work in the main problem in magnets. Like crazy strong magnetism, so strong you can feel your truck moving when driving past. And I have to walk the alleys between the circuits all the time and any non digital watch is toast pretty quickly. Hell one of my workers even has his Gear S watch go completely black never work again just from walking down the alley one time.

Thats why I mainly stick the Gshock. It holds up well and looks half arse decent. Just have to watch it around certain chemicals as like you said, it will eat the rubber with the quickness if I am not careful.

Honestly I love the engineering work in the plants, but I hate being in them

I was going to start a new thread, but I'll use this.

Anyone have any experience with Fortis? More directly the Fortis Cockpit or Cockpit 2 pictured here?

I don't do Tag and know nothing of them from recent years for sure. I thought they were overpriced for what you get for a long time. And that fricking integrated bracelet made me swear off of them forever. It was a stupid design.

I owned a Fortis XSAR. I sold it a few months ago. I've had 3 Fortis watches. Solid automatic movement and well made. Great value imo.

I have been looking to trade my Fenix 3 and possibly my Tissot Chrono for a dive watch of some sort. Have been looking at the Oris, Seiko Sumo and a few others. a tag was offered but I know zero about them. Sounds like I should pass.

I would pass. But that's just a personal preference. If you like it, do it. It would most likely need an expensive servicing too after 20 years.

Does Breitling even have an in-house movement? Still modified ETA? How long has Rolex used an in-house movement? Rolex and Brietling are not in the same class...at all. Unless you want to buy a Breitling Bentley watch, those suckers are sweet...

never owned a watch but thinking about making the plunge. i'd like something popular and cheap so watch snobs like gaston don't question me about the ins and outs of why i chose it. i've seen y'all recommend citizen eco drive for virgins. i think this one looks pretty decent.

bad idea? thoughts? would this look good with a brown leather band? yea i know, "get it if you like it", but if you say it's dumb, i'm not getting it.

sorry about that ladder comment the other day.

A Breitling reminds me of a Mercedes with a body kit and 24" rims. And neon lights underneath. And a wing. And the guy driving it is wearing a Mercedes jacket and hat.
