Looking to spend around 35k

You can get an XLT, LT, SLT at that price new. I've had all 3 and there isn't a major difference. Buy the one you like the best.

I was just in the same market. Ended up with a 2018 F-150 with 14,000 miles and paid $34,000. Was loaded and liked the aluminum body - I’m up North and there’s a ton of salt.

I went from GMC Denali to F150 Platinum because it has more rear room (have two kids in car seats. Different things I like about each.

I just got a diesel ram 2500 for 36k with 37k on the dash.... but if half ton, ford all day

The current models I'd have to go GMC.

The Silverado is growing on me but still prefer the Sierra.
