I think my unit (which is about 20 years old) finally gave out. I had to shut it down last night.
I called AC solutions but their first appointment was Wednesday

Honestly, I would probably just go and buy a window unit or two from the Wal marks to get you through the holiday weekend.

On a Sunday with the 4th tomorrow?
Hope you like to sweat, all of the warehouse supply stores are closed as well.

I do have one out in the barn I'm gonna put in after I get home from church.
I know it picked a terrible time to break. I slept naked on the couch last night

Call Brister-Stephens. They came out on July 4th for me one year.

Could be something simple.
What are the symptoms?

Give'em a try.
I don't recall the price being all that bad considering it was a holiday, etc.
Not sure about Sunday, though...

Abita Springs Air Conditioning can probably help also.

Air blowing isn't cold.
The fan is running, and the compressor is making a strange sound. It's a heat pump unit.

Pro Services a/c and heating in Covington were the best priced I found. I needed a full replacement and got 6 quotes ranging from $6,300 up to $11,000. Pro Services sold and installed a 5 ton 14 seer Amana for under $5,000. That included the furnace as well. They did a really nice job. No, I don't work for them.

quote:I'm not familiar with heat pump units, but there's at least a 50% it's not a major problem. 20 years does put most of it parts past their life expectancy but not for the compressor.

Matt Lang. 985-335-0147. Great, inexpensive, and I'll bet he comes out today
