I honestly feel bad for them as they are working up the courage to ask, because I already know my answer is no.

I probably shouldn't let it bother me, I doubt that these 7s and 8s are concerned about hurting the feelings of the guys that they reject.

I was just raised to be grateful for what I have, and to be considerate to others.
