Person A wins a bet which states person B has to buy A lunch. they go to lunch and person A's lunch has something messed up with it and the lunch becomes comped. Does person B still owe person A lunch since person B did not pay anything for A's lunch.

Are ya'll friends? If yes then no the bet is squared

The point of a gentlemen's bet isn't that the loser gets monetary loss, it is an agreement between friends.

Also if you bet $20 with a bookie and he pays you with $20 he found on the ground, did you not get your $20?

Person A is a dick in this scenario.

This.
Person B got lucky and when the lunch was bought - it was free.

Bunch of assholes in this thread saying the bet is paid. If the bet was that be buys him lunch, then the debt has not been paid.

And to the people saying person A is a dick...that's not really true anyway, but even still if you can't be a dick to your friends, then you're not really friends.
