I know I will receive downvotes for this but I bought a Black and Decker 40V adjustable speed weed trimmer and blower
I have the average size yard you see in most SLa subdivisions and could not be happier with my choice
Grab the battery and go. Super lightweight

Obviously, Stihl is at the top of the list in the small engine department. I've had a Stihl 044 chainsaw for 20+ years and it's an unholy beast of a machine.
But, if you're not looking to invest that heavily, I have had great luck with my 4-cycle TroyBuilt. It has a drill start adapter and cranks every time. I had the 2-cycle version previously, but it crapped out after a year of service. Luckily, I bought the no-questions-asked extended warranty, which cut the price of the 4-cycle by half when I replaced it.
Whatever you get, either use non-ethanol gas if you can.

Stihl, and its not even close. Cranks every single time and it eats. I have about an hour and a half cutting with it every time I take it out. It has cranked on the first time every time I have used it. this cutting season is the third year with it.
