My company does something like this, to deter departments from having to many meetings. To many meetings can restrict productivity sometimes.


I'll interpret for you what this means.

What may have originally been a well-intentioned practice to allow managers, et al, to catch-up, did not take into account years, even decades, of a low work ethic among gov't workers. No fear of losing their jobs. The only show in town. Arrogance toward the private sector. So "quiet Fridays" means just do even less than was done the previous 9 "work days."

Lots of companies do it. God knows I wish mine did. I wouldn't know what to do with that kind of relatively uninterrupted time.

We don't do meetings but we always get tasked for crap on Friday by higher ups and they want by the end of day or close on Monday.

My boss has some kind of mental disorder that makes him oblivious to life outside of work. Loves scheduling late Friday afternoon meetings because everyone’s calendar looks wide open. Get offended, and has yet to figure out why people never show up. It’s pretty incredible to watch it happen over and over
