Living on the west bank of Jefferson Parish last year was depressing. It seemed like every commercial building had a for lease sign.

Besides national businesses that have shuttered many of their locations, I can't think of any businesses shutting down here in Scottsdale.

If anything, business is growing and thriving well here.

Shelley's strip club got a few new hookers.

Does that count?

I've still got family in Houma and was wondering a few things.

Did/Is Twin Peaks close due to lack of sales, or due to the whole shootout debacle?

I had heard Voodoo was just moving to a new location at some point, or was remodeling or something.

WOW was really shitty IMO

I know some oilfield places are shutting down, but Weatherford??? Out on 311??? I did not know of that.

My idea, being pretty familiar with Houma, was to have a restaurant that could quickly change themes. That place 100% loves them whatever the new restaurant is. First 6 months, and you are going to have a wait to eat almost every night of the week. Then something else opens, and then the place is half empty all the time. There are only a handful of exceptions. My restaurant would be designed to open for 6 months, then shut down for 1 months to change up the décor and menu, then open again as something else. Never deal with that down time.

Dearman's
Chelsea's

Two staples lost.

Hooters is still alive and kicking?

I heard Hooters was going to shut down until they heard Twin Peaks was closing, now they may see what happens.

We've been fine so there is no reason to for us to discuss closing the store. No, we're not putting money in the bank like we were a few years ago. Economy was better and there was less competition. If I had to pick one thing that is really helping us is that we paid off our initial construction loans and such in a ridiculously quick manner. It goes a long way not to carry a note on a 1-2 million dollar store. We were lucky that the bottom fell out before we did a $750k renovation and upgrade. That was put off and became a very good decision.

Twin Peaks by me in Illinois is on life support. Food is mediocre and the waitresses are trashy, will probably close soon too.

Oh wait, Sweet CeCe's or whatever has closed all of their shops because they sat on 3 super expensive central spots of real estate and it was a horrible business model for a fricking frozen yogurt fad.

Got a few more to add to the list for Houma:

Samurai Dragon
Bing Cherry
Bar Rousell

I've also heard Sarah's Mediterranean and White Bowl are closing, but so far just hearsay.

Most of our losses were years ago. Half of downtown is empty, we have one car dealership where their used to be four, there are no men's clothing stores and only a couple for women. There's a Wally World out on the highway to fill your need for cheap Chinese crap, though. Murica.

Baton Rouge lost Albemarle this year. Insider told me BR was a shite-hole and they couldn't get young people to come here. Schools suck, traffic, infrastructure and violence were listed as reasons.
