I am a HUGE advocate for body cams just as every other officer I know is but departments are strapped for cash and money doesn't come out of thin air.
Go Pros cost a hell of a lot less than automatic weapons, armored vehicles, grenade launchers etc. Which are departments all over the country receiving in record amounts? Don't bring this horseshite excuse into this thread again.
Again, the cop has no justification. A citizen is required to show IMMINENT THREAT OR DANGER TO LIFE before use of deadly force can be justified in self defense. See one case involving a man named Zimmerman. Why are cops held to a different standard of law? Because they believe themselves to be the law and many DAs back them in this misconception.

Yep, military gear and equipment is expensive these days. Leaves no room for things like body cams. edit: lawsuits against police officers and the department are expensive too
Rationalize this however you wish but departments are cash strapped. Most of the "military gear" that is posted on here is not nearly as prolific as many of you believe and the small amount that a few departments do possess comes from the Feds and is bought with Fed grants.

That is why departments carry as much insurance as possible. One has nothing to do with the other. In order to purchase new cameras the public would have to pay more taxes. In addition to the cameras staff would need to be hired to service them and every officer on every department would need to be trained don them meaning overtime. I am, again, all for them but it is not nearly as easy as you make it sound. just saying "buy the cameras" doesn't work.

being made an infamous public figure, probably not very employable, and ostracized by most of society ETA: similar, but on a smaller scale of defending against a bogus DUI charge, a discussion we beat to death here often, by the time it's over, the damage is about as bad a a conviction
So similar to what this officer is going through

I have never seen a department with a grenade launcher in this state. SWAT teams of large departments have had full auto weapons for decades so they were purchased long before the Go Pro existed. Armored vehicles, of which there are very few, are generally bought with federal grants. Don't bring this horseshite into this thread again.

all I read was the originally posted article, which said that the murder was deemed justified, but I really doubt that, regardless of the outcome, he will ever near Zimmerman status, you are getting more and more like BTHog and Darth, always defending an indefensible position with total disregard for any viewpoint other than your own, and facts or statistics be damned

Or turning that other thread into a debate about popularity.
I'm sorry I called you out for a claim you made. I guess if it isn't about your original point in a 10+ page thread then it is immune from any discussion. I'll try to stay in line with what you want next time.

How so? That is when they get fun.

very true, I enjoy debates. You're responsible for their continuation too btw

You brought up a thread from last year in that thread yesterday. That's just pathetic.
I don't really forget things and it popped up in my head. You realize you just did something similar...Hypocrite

I am not sure I follow your line of thinking here. There is a video of the event and a grand Jury decided not to prosecute. How am I in an indefensible position? I would say that you are actually grasping at straws without a leg to stand on.

There is not a video of the event. There is a video of what lead up to the event.

Because he pulled his gun. Not being able to prosecute doesn't mean he used good judgement.
Anyways, you are nothing like BTHog or Darth. You try to respond respectively and bring up good points and insights during the discussions

just referring to your posting on these type threads in general, not so much this one in particular, cops are never wrong, there is no militarization of law enforcement, we never understand the whole scenario, so many things behind the scenes the us mere lay people can't comprehend, blah, blah, blah

Well, thank you for that. I am well aware that I am not always right and that we all bring bias into every conversation and I am willing and happy to admit that. Many here are not.

Why can't federal grants purchase Go Pros. Because the feds are too busy supporting the MIC.
Lol frick the NYT. Mobile site won't give me a damn article link either. Type " Militarization of police NYT" into Google, first link.

lighten up Darth, I'm not making a personal attack, but you've got a penchant for sticking with the Titanic long after you should have abandoned ship

I don't know what the MIC is. If you want the feds to purchase Go pros, which is still your tax dollars, start lobbying them to do so. Bitching about things on an LSU message board doesn't do the world a damn bit of good or change a thing. If this is something you are passionate about write to your representatives.

Seriously, gtfo. Me calling you out on bringing up an old thread yesterday is nothing like you bringing up an old thread. This is you spinning something. I really hope you see the difference.

LOL... I guess I hold to tight to the notion that "you've got to stand for something or you'll fall for anything".
As for where I stand on this subject, I don't trust cops and I think most folk here who know anything about me should understand why.
