Deep South hypocrisy, a pool showed deep southerners watch more porn and Ashley Madison...but smoking a little weed is jail time. fricking ridiculous.

There's a lot to be said about that. Since living in the NE, I've found more regular older marijuana pot smokers that are in happy/healthy relationships than not.

A poster linked a map, I think it was porn hub. Com that showed the Deep South buying/ watching more porn than any other section of the country. There was also huge fall out over Ashley Madison. But weed equals jail time. Wow.

what happened, man
He was late to court and got tried in absentia. the judge gave him 30 days on each ticket. And wouldnt even allow them to run concurrent. Which a local lawyer friend of mine said they do 90% of the time. the judge hammered him really
They do 2 for 1 good time apparently at greenville cty which means he'll be in there 2 months. fricking sucks

Welcome back Chef. You had said your boys priors were from a couple of fights in parking lots. It is totally unrelated but could you post a few pics of his hands?
TIA

TIA

Your boy is grabbing for the shite rope. You know what a shite rope is? A rope with shite on it that criminals reach for and try to hold on to but the shut on the rope just makes them slide right off.

So, he got caught and instead of being on time to court he missed it. I know it sucks man, but sounds like your dude could use some straightening out.
I got the shaft once with a speeding ticket when I was 16. Got a crap ton of community service, dude doing community service with me had less time and he got caught with drugs. I was pissed.

Oh I get it for sure. apparently he was like two hrs late relying on some shithead buddy to swing by and get him because of car trouble. hate it for that kid in two months. Im an hour away but of course id have drove up if I knew
Its just harsh as shite to throw a 19 yr old kid in county for a few months on misdemeanor tickets. its counterproductive mentally. I know life isnt fair and all that but thats bullshite

You're a shitty parent for not knowing exactly what's going on and every detail about this and his priors. And giving one frick that one of his "friends" says he'll only be in there for 49 days. Yeah, trust one of your pothead son's pothead friends. This is either fake or you're attention whoring and don't care about your kid.

How many offenses? What else did he do? It has to be something. If it isn't there is something wrong with the local court system wherever your family is located. Sorry this is happening for something as minuscule as pot, it's legal in like 5 states now lol.

You've said in this thread:
You don't know the details of this situation
You don't know the details of his prior illegal activity
You straight up said the statement about his friend texting you and seem to have taken it as advice
Top notch parenting. Good job.

You should be thankful your kid is prob. learning a life lesson that you didn't teach him. At least the judge cares about your son.

I didnt know the details as they were coming in because I hadnt spoken to him directly at that point. And I wasnt exactly sure what his other tickets were but vaguely, and with kids you assume at least 50% of it is bullshite or intentionally vage. He's 19, lives on his own, and typically handles most of his own problems
just whatever. im not arguing with some dickhead named poochie on the internet tonight

The Supreme Court has held that a trial can't occur without the defendant unless the defendant gives written permission or if the defendant was present at the start of the trial and then didn't show up for the rest.
Either the court proceeded illegally or your son is lying.
You need to request copies of the minutes from the clerk of court to see which one it was.
If they tried him in abstentia without his permission or his presence at the beginning then they violated his right to due process.
And that shits unconstitutional bruh

Well ive been to the court twice (didnt see judge of course) and spoke to a local lawyer. however they did it doesnt seem to be raising any flags here
I mean he did show up, just after the fact. the whole thing seems pretty irrelevant now. splitting hairs over how he handed down the sentence. I do know the clerk said in absentia specifically because I didnt know what that was

Well get the minutes and a transcript and talk to a different lawyer. I'm not a lawyer in South Carolina but I AM a lawyer in 'Merica. I'm telling you that if it proceeded in that fashion it was unconstitutional.
Now if he's doing 90 days for contempt that's different, but they couldn't have started a trial without his presence. He at least would have had to have a public defender for that (again, the constitution and what not). So find out who that was and maybe talk to them.
One of four things is going on:
1)The court violated his due process
2) your son is lying
3) you're lying
4) some combination of the above
