Pex is good in that it won't burst, but it will still freeze.

I got home at 6pm and worked till about 9pm defrosting my pex pipes. My pipes are in the attic. I had a heat gun trying to move along the piping without any results. I don't know if it was luck or just the sum of working for 3 hours, but I finally got my pipes unfrozen after putting a heating pad around the first point in my attic that the pex was exposed. I also had a space heater about ten feet down the line.
