Simply put, many Christians use the teachings of the Bible out of context. In Leviticus 18:1-30, laws are given, relating to sexual practices, which would eliminate the abominations being practiced by Israelites in the time of Moses.
Christians shouldn't quote only Leviticus and I dislike when anyone (christian or non christian misrepresent the Bible by taking out context).
In reality, the Bible calls for a balance between what some people think are two opposing reactions, condemnation and compassion. God's condemnation of homosexuality is abundantly clear, He opposes it in every age.
- In the patriarchs (Genesis 19:1-28)
- In the Law of Moses (Leviticus 18:22; 20:13)
- In the Prophets (Ezekiel 16:46-50)
- In the New Testament (Romans 1:18-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10; Jude 7-8)
Why does God condemn homosexuality? Because it overturns God's fundamental design for human relationships, a design that pictures the complementary relationship between a man and a woman (Genesis 2:18-25; Matthew 19:4-6; Ephesians 5:22-33).
Edit: Unfortunately, the Bible is constantly taken out of context to push agendas because one passage can fit on a facebook wall photo easier than an entire sermon.
Well said.

People forget the Bible was written TO us.

Ah, the old "call the person gay when they argue" act. Straight out of middle school

So, what's your point. Dogs also eat shite and hump a lamp shade.

I'm not insulted, as this is the go-to playbook for people who oppose homosexuality based on the Lord's law. It isn't my temptation. I do struggle with my own personal sins, but homosexuality isn't one of them.

those are things someone cannot control...but choosing to be gay cause its new and hip.
When people say this, I don't think they've REALLY thought it through. When you suggest it's a choice, then you, by default, are saying that all of us choose the sex to which we are attracted.
Did you?
Personally, I did not. By the time I started feeling attraction in that way, it was always pointed towards girls. I no more made a choice in having those feelings than I did in what color my eyes were going to be.
So, to suggest being gay is a choice, you are either suggesting that we are all heterosexual and "the gays" fight against that natural urge and force themselves to have gay sex for the "hip" factor, or that we ALL at some point are faced with a choice as to which road we will go down. The first seems idiotic on its face, so it's likely your actual point. But, if you really do mean to suggest that we all choose, what was it that finally swayed you from your equal attraction to boys and girls? I'm thankful that I was never in a position to feel that equal pull from both sides of the road.

guess i'm an ignorant bigot racist homophobe though...meh...could care less...

ok...its obvious now that you are gay...if you want the right to be gay...you can have it...but quit trying to make everybody else accept what you do...i dont have to..and i wont...my kids will be taught right from wrong...it is your inability to accept that you are wrong that is trying to force me to teach them to be tolerant of you...im sure the theif feels the same way about what he does...that he is doing it cause he "needs" it..or whatever else...frick that...doesnt make it right...now hate...that is not something I support...for anbody..cause I myself sin and do things wrong...do i want to be hated?...no...but do i expect for everybody to just be cool with my fault?
no
First off, I am straight. I am very happily married to a woman, and we have a beautiful son.
Second, if you keep this up, I may start to think that you're gay. Most people who are so openly opposed to something that has absolutely no impact on their lives whatsoever tend to be fighting some demons inside. If you're gay, that's fine, just tell us. You know there are many in this thread who will accept you as you are.

It just amazes me that the Progressives who love to tout science and superior intellect completely ignore it on homosexuality and abortion.
There's no scientific evidence of homosexuality being genetic. I don't know how many times I have to say it.
There is no evolutionary reason for people to be exclusively homosexual. In nature, there are sexual urges that are released by really humping anything. I'm sure the same applies to humans. But, those same animals are not exclusively homosexual.

Moustache you said that being gay is a choice. Do you believe it is a choice or it is a choice to act upon it or both?

Just like you use the Westboro people to judge Christians. Just trying to give you a look in the mirror how ridiculous you're being.
quote:Can you provide links to any of these facts? Here's one about one of several possible "gay genes".
There is no gay gene that has been scientifically proven. There have been genes tied to addiction, etc. that have been proven. How can you not get that? You're assuming, without evidence, that being gay is genetic. You're the one acting illogically here. I'm just spouting the facts.
quote:
The study involved drawing blood from 409 gay brothers and heterosexual members of their families. Analysis confirmed that an area on the X chromosome – which men inherit from their mothers -- known as Xq28 has some impact on sexual orientation. Another stretch of DNA on chromosome 8 also affects male sexual behavior, they said.
But go ahead and keep "spouting your facts" and calling me illogical. I'll just keep using common sense.

I answered you back on page 15. LINK
In short, it's a choice to act upon any temptations. Temptations are environmental, not natural. People know it's a sin, and everybody sins, but there's a difference in sinning and admitting you're a sinner than sinning and saying "I was born this way."
Everybody has sins they struggle with.

Denying the facts doesn't make them go away. And making up your own definition of the word "natural" doesn't make it so, either.

Your boy, SthDawg, was the one who started the whole "you're secretly gay for disagreeing with me!" BS.
