MTV is still around as is MTV Classic which actually still plays videos. It's only global channels in Europe and other parts. This is much ado about nothing.
ETA: the MTV that I and other Gen Xers grew up with since its creation has been dead for 30 years anyway

SiriusXM 80s on 8 channel has the original MTV VJs - Nina Blackwood, Mark Goodman, and Alan Hunter.

I watched mtv beach a lot when I was a teenager.
