I'm about 15 minutes from the airport.

Was there two weeks ago. Do not slip into etoufee withdrawals and in desperation try J. Gumbo’s, the “Cajun” place in Cranberry Township north of the city.

Bar or restaurants recommendations if you have them.
I've had a few long nights at the Buckhead Saloon in Station Square. That's a cool area

1. Its teeny but Shadyside is why Pittsburgh tallies as having a bohemian culture.
2. I've reported to TD some spectacular non ordinary events from when I was in pittsburgh decades ago. Once I arrived at work downtown before I got on the bus.
3. Mafia. Keep your head down.
Astonishing impunity.
4. If you get the job buy thermal underwear. Its down wind of lake Erie.
5. There's a ski resort/spa just east. 7 springs. It attracts money. Bunnies.
You are welcome.

Lawrenceville if you want to buy a place, fix it up, and profit in a few years.
I’d go with Shadyside though. Or Squirrel Hill if you can afford it.

Steelers fans are almost as lousy as Eagles fans.
Pittsburgh fans are great. They travel really well. They're one team that always has a lot of fans at visiting games. Their fan base is like Bama's in the way they will do without essentials, to have the money for some Steelers tickets. Lots of blue collar fans that have a good time, like it used to be at LSU. They wear jerseys from their current team, all the way back to the 70's teams too. Up there with Packers, Chiefs, and Saints fan bases when it comes to loyalty.

Love this place
I’ve been there once. Really liked the food

I used to live in Squirrel Hill near Chatham University, just a block or so south of Shadyside and really liked that general area. Also lived in Monroeville for a while and it was OK but a lot farther from downtown.

Friendly staff, terrible food.
Which is basically standard setup in Pittsburgh restaurants. And if you really want good Mexican food, you may as well take the Liberty Bridge south, then jump off of it.

Mt. Lebanon or Upper St. Clair might be good if you don't want to be in the hood. Squirrel Hill if you want a relatively nice area closer to the action.
Oakland if you're young and single and want access to coeds.

As far as food goes, I personally like (not love) the Primanti Bros. sandwiches. They’re really bland and are missing “oomph.” They need a special sauce or something. I bet a slathering of Canes sauce would make them 10x better.
Another famous Pittsburgh sandwich is the Devonshire sandwich, which I really like a lot. Lemont restaurant on Mt. Washington is where it was invented.
They do have some great, old-school pizza places up there, and the bread made at Mancini’s is second to none. Some places even use Mancini’s as a crust, and it’s great. Also there’s Beto’s, which is place that puts cold cheese & toppings on the hot crust/sauce after it comes out of the oven. Sounds strange, but it’s delicious.
I also used to really like Fatheads in Oakland, but I heard that they made their menu smaller and that it’s gone downhill.
Kennywood is a great old-school amusement park. I believe it’s the oldest park in the country. Lots of historic stuff there, especially in their arcade.
Just be prepared to hear a lot of Pittsburghese — yinz instead of yall, jagoff, chipped ham, etc.

Mohan's is on Salzburg Road in Plum. Awesome wings.
Vincent's in Forest Hills has the best pizza.

Wilkinsburg is another possibility if OP is looking to gentrify a neighborhood.
