I'd rather live anywhere else in Alabama than Montgomery. Anywhere

I used to live 35-45 miles from there in Tallassee and then Eclectic.

Montgomery was the closest Mall,Bar,Resturant choices,Music Store,Theatre,etc.

I know there are areas you don't want to live in Montgomery.

I lived in Eclectic 45 minutes from anywhere in Montgomery and had deer and turkey feeding through the backyard.

Get a bigger map and look at how close Lake Martin is.Commute.jmho

I Love Bama.Hey man.

Only Walmart ever closed was there.

I used to drive those County roads in Macon County. It didn't matter where you were when you entered Macon County the road turned to shite.

And they have the Dog Track in Shorter.

Johnny Ford.Stand up and take a bow.

Montgomery is the dreariest place I've ever lived. Longest 3 years of my life.

Check out The Park Apartments in Prattville. 10 minutes north, pricey but nice. If not there then Barrington Place.

Yeah dude, look for a place in prattville and then just commute. Takes 10-15 mins to get anywhere in Montgomery but you'll have cheaper rent, better neighbors and much lower crime rates.

That area is cloverdale. Not too bad. Just depends on where exactly

I know a lot of folks that lived down there.

Some areas worse than others

Wife and I lived in Cloverdale for two years and we had a blast. It is cool neighborhood with about 6-8 solid little restaurants and bars.

Agreed

You would be crazy to live anywhere but Prattville if you are moving to Montgomery.

Don't listen to the Prattville/Wetumpka suggestions. There's nothing up there.

Live in East Montgomery or Cloverdale. Those are the correct answers. I moved here about 15 years ago. I wouldn't live anywhere but Old Cloverdale but there aren't a ton of apartments in that area either but you can find them.

Grew up in Montgomery, parents still live there. I was in Old Cloverdale, which is a really nice area and you can find some cool little houses or one BR apartments for very affordable prices. That neighborhood would be expensive in a lot of other cities, but Montgomery drags it down.

There's not really a bad commute anywhere in the city, so don't worry about living close to work. You'd drive max 20 minutes. My mom lived in Cloverdale and worked out I-85 past Taylor Road and she would be able to do it in 15 most days.

Never had a problem with crime in Cloverdale, but you don't want to venture too far out of the area since Alabama State and a bunch of projects are right near there. In the winter you'd get to hear either gunshots or the ASU band practicing drifting in on the cold air.

Downtown is starting to revitalize. Right near the new Renaissance Hotel they've got cool restaurants and bars, and they're really making an effort. Still a long way to go, though.

Lived here all my life. It's not that bad just depends on what you're looking for. Old Cloverdale is a quaint little neighborhood but Huntington College being right there is going to drive up the cost of small apartments. There are some new apartment complexes in east Montgomery that are quiet and nice. If you like calm, I'd def look at Prattville or Wetumpka. With the exception of the bar-life, both of those have anything you could ever need.

Stay OUT of West/South Mgy, it's a third world country.
