I personally wouldn't because that market may not be at the bottom obviously. I would rent and wait it out a while to see what happens with oil prices.

As the first person posted, look at the landing apartments. Great spot, decent apartment, good price.

South Point

I just checked them out. It says $589-$625 for a 1 bedroom. Doesn't look to bad in the pictures.

If you want an apartment, South Point.

I lived here for a year when I first moved to Lafayette back in 2007. It's in your price range. It's in a good part of town and it's near the center of the city (Ambassador/Kaliste Saloom intersection).

Check out Diamond Lakes apartments on Amb Caffery very near that intersection. No idea what they are renting for, but it might be closer to your price range without stepping down into low income apartments, but cheaper than some of the more hot areas.

Where you going to be working? It's 20 minutes across town and so the general location of your office is needed to really advise.

I made this a while back inspired by a map another poster created (yellowfin maybe?)

Where will you be working?

Eta: nevermind, u already said dulles. Don't live near there it's pretty much the ghetto.

Coming from dulles on ambassador once you pass Johnston you're good.

Around there is pepper tree, chateau de lions, river ranch if you have money to burn, etc.

Traffic is going to suck, but learn how to take ridge and those back roads and u will save a lot of time
