If you have ties to Orlando, I understand. But as one who's lived in FL since 2006, I want you to know how hot it is and humid. The coasts are far better places to enjoy the best of FL - esp. in the Tampa/St. Pete/Bradenton/Sarasota area. Open water. Sea food. Fishing. Great climate. Cooler than central FL. But, welcome to the Sunshine State, regardless of where you end up.

Gospel. But you (OP) can.

I've been all over this state since graduating in 2006. Central, panhandle, southeast, and now Tampa. Wife and I love it here in Tampa, I could never move back to New Orleans. Maybe for a million dollars, but that's it.

What's wrong with your wife? Orlando sucks. Look for a place in Lake County and avoid the city as much as possible.

Born in and still live in Jax, neighbor!

I also hate this fricking state, although if I have to live here I'd pick Jax over any other place. I'd much rather be in the Midwest or Pacific NW, though.

What side of town are you? I'm in San Marco, so between that and being right across the river from Avondale I at least get some culture instead of the usual boring-arse urban sprawl shite.

Welcome to town, as long as you stay out of the touristy areas that the OT loves to visit Orlando isn't a bad place at all. Windermere and Winter Park are nicer than any area in Louisiana. Check out Park Ave in Winter Park, it's my favorite part of the city.

I recommend Lake County. It's just North of Orange county and much better IMHO. You can still get land and there is lots of lake property available.

Do not live in the city of Orlando. It sucks more than you can possibly imagine. I've worked in Orlando as a LEO for 20 years. It is a horrible city. If you must be urban, live in Seminole County. Land will be impossible to get unless you are a millionaire.

That place is coming back even five points. Love the new restaurants like black sheep and the new blind rabbit going in. Sounds like a farm over there but those places are legit. BTW Biscotti's is my favorite lunch spot that way also.

I spent three different stretches of my life living in Florida, and every time I couldn't wait to get the frick out.

Orlando sucks.

Hope you've enjoyed your life so far, cuz it's gonna be shite from now on.
