So I guess another option would be to rent something at the max $2300 range. 2BR/2BA. My company will reimburse first two months of rent up to 5k. See if I can score a first month free deal from a complex, and find a roomate. Thoughts?

Yeah I'm biased being from Springfield I guess but you can find a 1br within your budget and it's an easy place to live. Everything you need is close. Going out in the DC or Arlington is tough as an uber is $20 1 way if there's not surge and metro is so fricked that you might be waiting 24min for a train and it closes at midnight even on weekends now. I don't like going to Springfield bars bc they are full of morons i went to HS with that are 6 years into their associates degree at NOVA

That's my concern with Springfield, it'd be the Lafayette of the DC Metro area. And since I don't know anyone, I'd just end up a recluse.

literally never had an issue getting home super late when ive been out in DC

and i wouldnt commute an extra 30 minutes each way to work just so that it was easier to get home drunk from bars

Bump for somewhat of a spinoff. How is Alexandria nightlife? Still good for singles. BTW that Eisenhower spot looks pretty clutch.

Springfield is comparable to Kenner. That's why I think shirlington would give you the best of both worlds for commute/social life. It would add maybe 5-10 min to your morning commute to work and probably 15 min to your evening commute home when compared to Springfield.

Try to get as close to 395 as possible it'll make your commute shorter and Uber's a lot cheaper.

I actually prefer the nightlife in Old Town the most. Plenty of really good bars and excellent restaurants that run the length of King street. Plenty of single ladies, though the crowd will skew a little older than Arlington.

get on Tinder/Bumble as soon as you move here and play the "I just moved to town, what are some cool spots?" card and go nuts

Old Town can be fun. It's an older crowd than DC and Clarendon but still fun especially if you're not looking to get to wild. It has a lot of good restaurants as well.

Another thing I should mention is if you live in a high rise apartment and you want a parking space expect to pay. When I lived in Ballston I want to say it was about $100/month and when I lived in downtown D.C. it was about $200.

We paid 2600 for 2 years by McPherson square for a 700 sq ft 1 BR with tandem parking. Despite the arse raping in price some of the best 2 years of my life

I'd be willing to bet over $400 of that was for your tandem parking space
