A convicted attorney who will be sentenced in July for his role in a wide-ranging staged wrecks scheme cannot afford his own lawyer. Jason Giles was in court Tuesday when his attorney, Lynda Van Davis, requested to withdraw as his counsel. According to Davis, Giles cannot afford to pay her for her representation. The court granted her request but then assigned her as his public defender. This will allow Davis to continue to represent Giles while the government pays for his defense.
