Midas
guy who worked at Midas admitted to me that they were trained to up-sell unnecessary parts and repairs. Many years ago I took my car to a quick oil change place who also performed other minor maintenance and repairs. They bring out the check list afterward with all the things they recommend you do. One was a radiator flush (or something like that), and after a few visits decided to do it. Three months later I came back for another oil change, and they came back and recommended a radiator flush. Needless to say I never went back.

Honestly, this is the main reason I change my own oil. I hate upsells.

Just for Brakes in Austin hosed me pretty good. They recommend a whole bunch of stuff. When you refuse to do all of the suggested repairs they get you to unknowingly sign a form that essentially leaves them with zero liability if they screw something up. They warped my rotors and when I pressed the brakes my steering wheel shook like a mofo. I wanted to firebomb that shithole but I just got pissed and left. I took it to the dealership and had the rotors replaced. Lesson learned.

I had just moved to Austin and didn’t know any reputable place. I now have a place I deal with that has been very good to me.

Did they"turn" or replace the original rotors?
If you had new pads put on old rotors without anything being done to the old rotors, they may not be at fault.

I buy high end brakes and install myself changing the rotors as well.
