Pretty fired up for a Sunday morning. I’m hungover and don’t have anything to contribute. I figured you needed an upvote though.

No one else had any interest in the land.
But let a creative entrepreneur come out and try to build something that will drastically increase the taxbase and add jobs and the diseased pieces of excrement want to block it because folkswho EARNED their money may want to spend it there.
F these people. F them to hell
Wow. Nothing in this article even mentioned any left leaning ideals? The fact that you judge people based on some stupid arse political line shows your ignorance and arrogance, even when you are absolutely full of shite. I award you no points, and may god have mercy on your soul... I feel sorry for people like you.

Not sure you understand who is currently living in these areas, or really anything about it at all.

My take was pretty over the top. I apologize for that.
It just hit a nerve because my uncle had to walk away from a dream project on which he had spent years of his life and a lot of his own money because of social justice warriors who pinpricked the project to death to a point where there was no way to turn a profit or break even.

Most of the people that live there have no fricking clue what politics are Roger...
The author made a couple comments embellishing the situation, but the people involved aren't "hippy leftists", or whatever you crazy people want to call them. They just want their water to not kill them if they're going to fix it for the resort, that seems pretty reasonable. These people have nothing, yet you clowns come here to trash them because you hate your life and need someone to bully.

These people have potential better paying jobs on the horizon. That's what development gives them.
The people aren't complaining. The social justice freaks who filter everything through the book of Marx are complaining.
Or as the article stated, "community organizers"
frick em. People like that are precisely why Amazon pulled their plans from Queens...

And they are creating ex post facto laws through activist judges and rogue bureaucrats.

Privileged "communIty activists" pretending to help poor people may be the worst thing that can happen to poor people.
You don't empower anyone this way, you create a docile, servitude society.

If you really think they are going to hire the dirt poor people who live there, you are kidding yourself. Just saying.

Absolutely. Construction, landscaping, janitorial.

I am not trashing the people who live there. I am trashing the leftists that are the CAUSE of unaffordable housing in California. It does not end with them.
The bottom line is there will be millions of dollars in new property taxes that could be used by honest politicians to provide clean water for everyone. But the leftists will not end on that one topic. They will bend the developer over until he decides not to build.

To be honest, if that's your take, something's terribly wrong with you.

"The eastern Coachella Valley is also a place where critics say environmental racism abounds,"
" “increasingly being eyed by developers as a place for profit-driven projects instead of the affordable housing and environmental justice measures that residents say are needed.”
