cock fights in Archibald

O.K. that does it. I don't feel so alone anymore. How bought the three redneck cowboys who came to Sundown West in West Monroe every Friday night to start shite and left every time with their arse kicked? I participated in one of those arse kickings and lo and behold the next weekend I saw them at the Archibald cock fights. We had a few bets...it was like nothing ever happened.

There was plenty of those but yet a lot of my friends were from that neck of the woods. Branding Iron and Webb's were always good for women, fights, or both.

That's funny, I was telling my son about HM Poole on Monday night.

How do you know about HM??

I met HM around 1979 at NLU...his parents brought him up there a few days early for Fall semester. He didn't have anywhere to stay, and he was trying to get some friends of mine to let him stay with them in Town and Country apartments. They kicked him out but before he left, he had to change clothes...put on an old striped shirt and took out a pair of plaid pants (of course, he smelled the crotch to make sure they were clean and put this outfit on)...we dropped him off at Sals with his suitcase and didn't see him again for quite a while....

HM was really a nice guy, but just was crazy as a shithouse mouse....still lives in the Monroe area doing some tree trimming work and other stuff like that...I'm sure plenty of folks on here remember him and he really deserves his own thread.

What was the name of the old cowboy looking-guy who walked everywhere? He was a local legend and eventually was struck by a car and died. I think he lived in West Monroe but I remember seeing him walking out on US 165 North one time.

There's also a black dude who looks ex-military that walks all over town talking to himself. I guess he's harmless.

And of course, there's the guy that dresses up in petticoats and propped up boobs and walks up and down the streets in both towns. Definitely goes for the shock value.

I can't remember...Sterlington had a guy like that named Joe...still walking around up there I believe...Bastrop had one named Johnny Cash - wore solid black all the time...both of them just walked around, talking to themselves...

I do remember a guy that dressed as a woman and went to the old twin cities mall a lot...kids would also spot him and start yelling at him - he would haul arse out of the mall with those kids chasing him...

Mrs Davis, horndog's friends uncle. He is actually a house painter outside his crossdressing gig.

The thing that I was telling my son was about HM cheating on a test in a junior level geology class. He was in the middle of the room and decided to put his notebook on the floor at his feet. He was shuffling the pages with his feet, but apparently didn't think out his exit strategy. Everyone around him finished the test, leaving HM in the middle of the room with the notebook on the floor with no one to cover him while he picked it up. The prof was sitting in the front of the room watching this and trying not to laugh. We were all out in the hall looking through the windows cracking up.

HM finally gave up on geology, but every sign up sheet for a party, meeting, field trip, etc had his name on it for years.

This crazy guy that was at Northeast at the same time as me spent some time in care of the Monroe PD for jumping him and beating the poor dude up.

I remember HM's name appearing on the sign up sheets for years (finished in Geology in '81 myself)....he tried to take about 4 years of classes in 1 year...I remember Dr. Young reading his answers to test questions outloud the next class....hilarious!

Do you remember when HM dyed his hair black - it was so black, it was blue...then when it started growing out, the light patch in the middle made him look like a skunk...

Yeah, HM wanted to punt in the NFL pretty bad...that was his dream for several years...I guess he is about the most famous person I know personally...
