MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Authorities have arrested a man accused of stabbing his live-in girlfriend to death.
According to court documents filed on Dec. 5th, Larry Shell Jr. is accused of killing Tequita Browhow. Browhow's body was found in her apartment at 800 N. McGuire Street, near ULM, after her mother reported her missing Monday night. Police say Browhow appeared to have "obvious trauma to the neck caused by an edged weapon."
At this point, police sought Shell in connection with the death and discovered that Shell had been arrested in connection with another knife attack that happened Monday morning at the 4400 block of Desiard Street. During that arrest, Shell told police that he brushed against a man while walking on a sidewalk and a fight ensued. Police say Shell pulled out a knife and struck the man several times, cutting the man in the head, arm, and stomach. Shell was arrested and booked at the Ouachita Correctional Center.
When Monroe police questioned Shell about Browhow's death, he said the man he fought on Desiard Street was Browhow's killer. Shell also told police that the knife used to kill Browhow was the knife he used in the fight on Desiard Street.
According to court records, Shell told police that he discovered Browhow's body at their apartment on Friday night. He says the knife was still in her neck, so he pulled the knife out and stayed in the apartment for three days with Browhow's body.
Police say that Shell would not admit to killing Browhow, but he did say that he was the last person to see her alive and the first person to discover her dead. He also told police that the knife that killed Browhow, the same knife that he used in the fight on Desiard street, was his and that he had owned it for years.
