You’re doing it right for being young, single, and healthy. You can control most of the variables involved.

It’s the breadwinners that have a spouse and multiple children who need dental, vision, health insurance with reputable doctors in network - people like that have to consider many more variables.

Vastly depends on current health benefits and investments.

One serious injury and that $75k can be gone in 2days if you are paying out of pocket for medical.

Will your wife’s pension provide healthy insurance for you in retirement? Also, you can set up a self employed 401k. How is your business legally structured? Do you have any employees?

It’s all fun and games until you need the health insurance.

Young people generally aren’t getting the max value of what company provided benefits offers.

But benefits cover a range of areas:
401k match
Dental
Vision
Health
Paid time off
Short term disability
Legal coverage

Those come to mind...I’m sure there are more.

Depends

No matter how good the plan, it usually does not cover Depends.

The biggest benefit from some jobs is flexibility. I couldn’t really put a number on being able to work from home, but I would say it’s probably worth at least 30k or so to me, maybe even more.
