Good start.....be prepared to spend some money when expanding, track, transformers, switches, accessories, you can take it as far as you want, I have an O gauge layout in my living room going into dining room,
I can run 4 trains at a time mostly run 2 at a time stated building in 2016, took about 3 yrs to get where it is today I have pics I would show but don't know how if your local in BR you're welcome to come visit

My dad was into model trains and airplanes. He had many different ones through the years. This is the last one that he had before he passed away. He made all of the buildings and trees himself. My mom finally tore it down a few years ago but we kept all of the trains and buildings.

I inherited a 1949 Lionel set (O-27). My daughter bought me a Hogwarts Express.
I want to go to a Fastrak layout and use the original track on spurs. My long term plan is to get a diesel yard switcher and have a turntable and roundhouse.
The first thing I need is a BIG arse transformer...the 726 locomotive is well known as a electricity hog.

The old Broadmoor Flea Market in Baton Rouge user to have a big setup. Always wondered where all that went once that place closed.

He had over $300k in model trains basically stolen from him by an auction house up in the northeast.
Nette Auctions - had a few friends who paid for trains that they never received and more friends who sold trains and who were never paid.

I have done some 3d printing for model trains for others. I'll share the files if you have access to 3d printers.

My brother turned his garage (back in the 70's) into a train room/movie theater.

Some old trains:
Shelf of pre-WWII trains:
Brand new unrun 50's Lionel set:
1920's American Flyer "wide gauge" (much larger than O gauge" Lone Scout set in original, like new condition (the voodoo doll is a set prop from "True Blood"):
American Flyer 1940 prewar O gauge set:
One of a kind prewar Marx prototype car (never manufactured):
Another shelf of the large standard gauge (also called wide gauge) trains, mostly by Lionel:

Yup, our customer had his rare McCoy collection sold off with nothing in return. Even items that didnt sell, they took from him.

I’ve always wanted to jump on board, the N scale stuff is cool.

This affected the other auction houses too, as collectors started being nervous about dealing with them.

When I retire in a few months, I am going to dust off my 1958 American Flyer's and do a set up.
They were a present from my grandparents when I was a year old. Haven't had them set up in more than 20 years when my son was a kid.
I already have a designated train room. Probably will have to spend about 500 dollars or so for the platform and assorted goodies that have fallen into disrepair.

I always hated that Bobby got whacked. He didn’t deserve it

Agree, marrying Janice was enough for one man to go through.

That's what he got for paying $8000 for a restored O gauge Blue Comet
