Well then he got overruled by the other owners. They still had to allow them the chance to host this year because that is millions in revenue that comes along with hosting rights for the city/area/team.

Quick google says that's wrong.
Totally not a progressive Corinthians will surely be along momentarily to tell you why that’s wrong and back that with contracts and other agreements he’s very obviously intimately familiar with, per this thread.

The MLB doesn't HAVE to do anything. You keep saying they HAVE to give ASG's to franchises that build stadiums but have provided nothing but anecdotal evidence of a few teams getting games anywhere from 3 to 10 years after building their stadiums. There is no ck tract between the MLB and the franchises about hosting ASG in new stadiums.
You just made that up.
ETA: If there was a contract, they would have sued when they pulled the game a few mo the in advance 4 years ago. And they would have won.

Its literally every team that has built one in the past 30 years besides yankees who hosted the year before to retire old yankee stadium. I quit listing them because i thought the point was proven. That list was all of the most recently built stadiums in order, not random selections. The Phillies were the only one that hasnt hosted yet and they get to host next year. Astros got to host in minute maid.
If you dont think there's a deal in place where building a new stadium gets you an all star weekend then you are blind.

Why would they sue? They were gonna get to host anyway, just a different year.
And there actually were lawsuits by the city businesses that the team didnt join

They are prioritized, yes. They aren't contractually guaranteed. Of course they want to show off their new parks, but nothing in the MLB process of picking all star venues says they have to pick a new stadium.
It's not the first time a league has done some political grandstanding with a showcase game. The NBA moved the all star game out kf Charlotte in 2016 over some NC bill. The NFL moved the Super Bowl in 1991 from Phoenix over some MLK day law. It's pure political grandstanding and to claim anything else is ridiculous.

And hosted it there 2 or 3 years later....

Do yall remember when MLB pulled the all-star game from ATL after Georgia cleaned up the voter rolls and put new restrictions on mail ballots a couple years ago?
And moved it to a state where the voting laws are more restrictive.

Is it pure political grandstanding or is it capitalism?
Coca cola is a pretty powerful corporation based in Atlanta and an MLB partner and they flexed their muscles against having it in Atlanta that year along with Delta Airlines.

There never was a controversy. It was all manufactured drama by morons just like everything else.

If tweet fails to load, click here. And lets be honest the only people on here that cared are because of their reason for moving it.
If they had moved it because of a storm noone would've cared.

Because of the economic impact to the city of Atlanta after mlb virtue signaled too hard?
I know as a progressive you have 0 understanding of anything related to economics, but I promise it’s a real thing.

Thanks for proving my point.
I especially love the last part where they vow to never stop, yet here we are. Same voting laws and All-Star game in Atlanta. Where is the Players Alliance (whoever they are) now?

It's happened 3 times in like 35 years. Each time it has been in response to state laws and you can't admit its political grandstanding BS?

This is the ultimate irony. I was wondering when someone was going to bring this up.

Being due to something going on doesn't mean the league actually gives a shite about politics. They care about money.
If coca cola and delta and the players alliance didnt fight to get it moved the league wouldve just played it in atlanta as planned.
Once they got resistance that they realized may hurt their bottom line they reacted. It isnt like the league moved the all star game when the law passed. They moved the game after companies/players started fighting them over playing it there.

Manfred is a fricking moron.
He's going to lead baseball down a dark road after next season with a lockout b/c he is hell-bent in instituting a salary cap.
They don't call him "Milk carton Rob" for nothing. He's accountable for nada.
