TOPs should apply to trade schools as well.

That would be very smart and awesome. Unfortunately this is Louisiana.

There is a glaring reason that these district score lower. It is a lightning rod, but it is backed by scientific research in the psychology and neurosciences. With that being said, Although funding is distributed fairly equally, there are many schools that receive less with resources. But again the main reason is the former.

There's so much that can be done if we just stop pretending everyone needs to be doctors, lawyers, and rocket surgeons.

Looks like it isn't done equally. Seems like the poor, crappy schools get almost 20% more funding per student.

I don't think that only applies to Mississippi. I'd be curious to know if any of these mothers ever received a gov't check for their kids struggling in school. There are a lot of examples of this in the delta and mothers almost encourage it. In my hometown, there was the "white" school and a self-proclaimed black school. I had dealings with both and the biggest difference between the two was the support of parents. It was unbelievable to see how little some parents were involved with their kids.

The SPLC notes that all of the 19 Mississippi school districts rated “F” have overwhelmingly black student bodies, while the state’s five highest-performing school districts are majority white.
So they should get rid of local taxes?

I taught in Tunica for three years. They get more federal and state funding than any school district in MS. They are suing because they want equal results. You know what, though, students only spend 1/6 of their years in schools: 1/3 of the day for 1/2 of the days. The other 5/6 come from their home life. I bet these counties have a 75% or more fatherless trend with barely one lousy income, but yet, they want to be equal to Madison, Oxford, and Pass Christian. Idiots. This lawsuit will go nowhere.
