Jobs have a set economic value that doesn’t change.
You could increase the minimum wage, but inflation will just kick in. And that job will command the same relative economic value it did before.
You can’t make that job more valuable.
Minimum wage workers have two options- work more - or find better paying work.

You angry!
Nah
I just know who the worthless people are and, you're among them.
The world would be better off without you. So, it would bring a smile to my face it it occurred.
It is what it is.

You really angry. And I had given you the benefit of the doubt, that maybe you were a rational functioning human.
Best not to assume, right?
Well, that’s ok, I kinda like you, or at least this anonymous online shell of a person you project.

quote:Of course it is. I mean, it was MY apartment!
This is accurate for that time
quote:Meh. I wasn't a student. And, the only cheaper apartment was $240 which still wouldn't have done it.
Of course that was a “nicer” student apartment,
Short of moving to the ghetto, these were some of the cheapest Apartnments available to me remotely near where I worked.

but suffice to say that minimum wage has always provided the means to not starve to death, but not to live in any self-sufficient manner.

If you are making minimum wage as an adult you should feel thankful that you are employed.
My 18 year old son who just in May graduated high school already has a job making $16.55 an hour as a welder for Arcosa. And he only started a month ago at $16.05. He’s only getting started.
If you’re an adult making minimum wages in America, unless you’re mentally or physically disabled, it’s 100% your fault and can be traced back to your personal decisions.

I had a place in the Ghetto on Chimes for a while. $100 a month, water and gas included, with a loft made by cutting a hole in the ceiling for attic access.

The OT is filled with assholes hating their $48k a year job. They have to be able to thumb their nose at someone, so they mock the poor soul with less opportunity than them.

Where I live there are 7 room houses each room gets rented out and it includes a mattress. Some you can rent by the hour.

The real issue is that it hasn’t kept pace with inflation for years. That $3 in 1985 still buys more than today’s minimum wage

and if you increase the minimum wage the cost of living increases as well. The best way to solve this problem is on an individual level - start at minimum and work your way up to a decent wage.

Welcome back bitch. What’s your response to my question?
Posted on 7/16/20 at 6:38 pm to Aristo
Yeah but the cost of dying is even higher since all these minimum wage workers have debt.

My company hired 3 new people last month. And hired several more from March through May. As usual, you don't know shite.

Why do people that make minimum wage need to follow this rule?

Immediate gratification

Well, maybe they should do something to better themselves, and not rely so much on the gubment.
Maybe get an education, a real job and so on.
However, I don't buy this one bit. Go to a grocery store at the first of the month, watch how many carts of food they buy, and then see what kind of vehicle they get in....
It has to do with priorities!!!! That ecalade, rims, nails, weaves, and newest iPhone ain't cheep mofo.

Dying is free for the dead.

Good thing that only around 2% of all workers make minimum wage
Then raising the minimum wage shouldn't affect many businesses.
