the irony is that you don't HAVE to have any of those three. I have friends that have no interest and no cable because they choose to. They have cell phones because they choose to. None of those are required.

Sorry, but internet and cell phones aren't luxuries. They're damn near necessities.

You can't get a job if you can't check your email or respond to a confirmation text that your resume was successfully submitted.

The reality of the main gripe against Millenials is this. If I spend 200k on an 18th century lesbian poetry degree, odds are i'm going to be a barista, because the demand for that degree is slim to none. To call on society to find my value when there is none is ridiculous. To insinuate any job below a professor of 18th century lesbian poetry is an insult to your academic pedigree is nonsense.

Out of the several hundred millennial acquaintances I've had over the course of my life.. I know a single person with a womens studies type degree.

The vast majority are business, communications, and criminal justice majors.

Should they just quit or not accept the position if that's the situation?

Contract lab techs. Some recently straight out of college with no experience and degrees in fields other than the sciences. Jobs are there you just have to look in places you might not think of.

This fricking thread.

Say what you want about me and my generation, but I'm pretty happy where I'm at. If they're not happy, their problem, not mine.

Yep. Things are tough right now. But as always, if you have talent and work ethic then you will be successful. If you don't, you won't. No excuses.

Of these two, one is far more important. That is the one that is sorely lacking in this crowd of whiners.

Most professionals; doctors, lawyers etc. will all tell you how they get screwed over pay wise with their first jobs. It's like a conspiracy, the worst are the employers who hire everyone on staff as employees but hire the professionals as contractors.

It's the small things too that set you apart.

I was living in LC and coming to Dallas for an interview. The recruiter wanted to talk to me before the interview and asked to set up a phone call. I requested to do the prep in the person, and she was shocked and impressed by that. It was kind of inconsequential to me, but it set me apart.

That might get your worthless arse in the door but if you don't perform, you will be gone.

Hard work beats just about anything...and this comes from someone with a lazy streak a mile wide....I sincerely hope my daughters did NOT get this gene...

These threads are sometimes fun but really probably more depressing.

Depressing bc I've always thought being born in '82 made Gen Xer but nope I'm a god damn Mill.

Also I understand most of everything spit up here is a bunch of anacdotal evidence that paints the young ones bad. Same thing that has been happening for forever. If we could decipher cave painting they are probably telling us that the younger generation will be the last because of how stupid and lazy they are.

Couple points ring true no matter where you fall. This economy blows an a has for a while. The job market isn't there and the way the feds calculate unemployment should be criminal. Economy is a paper tiger with the Feds artificially trying to stimulate a big pile of shite.

And the ones I would say aw to blame, are the fifty sixty and seventy year olds that have been pulling the strings.

And to think all these centinials and millennials came up with this sjw shite in a vacuum would be obtuse as well.... damn boomers wanted to fix everything and everyone with our children's money.

Larry, I bet I can 100% pick out the posters in this thread who have and have not ever changed their own oil in their car.

Kids today have zero fundamentals. The only thing they have more than us Gen Xers is expectations.
