I do not know how many of the people who post on this board are in the greater NYC area, but there is currently an exhibit about the Vietnam War on display at the New York Historical Society Museum (corner of West 77th Street and Central Park West) that is really interesting. I visited it over this past Armistice Day (yes, I know) Weekend and would recommend it. In fact, for those in that area the entire museum is worth a look from a history standpoint.

Hey armytiger96, it looks like we were 2LTs together in the CAV and deployed together. I was in RSS at Guardian Base/Blue Factory but made it out to all of the other bases, north and south, all the time. I earned my spurs in 1997 before we deployed.

I'm not really sure to be honest with you. I wasn't in ROTC or anything like that. I was not detached from the Army like the Green to Gold ROTC program does either. I had a duty station at Ft Dix, I was ordered to attend college. I lived on base and commuted to Princeton. When I graduated from college they made me an officer, and gave me a rank of O2.

I know a few other people here and there who had similar deals.

Good deal brother. Those are the kind of stories that show how great of a profession the Army truly is. You were probably commissioned about the same time a good friend of mine was (he was a few years before me). You may have even gone to OBC with him. How did they work out your pin on date? What YG did they put you in? What AOC? Depending on what they did with you I would bet you two know each other. Small Army.

I came in as a 70B Platoon Leader and after my deployment to Bosnia they sent me to the fellowship to be a 71E. I have been in air conditioning ever since. I commissioned in Dec 1995, AMEDD OBC in March '96, after graduation from OBC I was driving to Fort Polk listening to the radio when Warren Morris hit his home run. 22 years later and I am trying to finish the War College correspondence.

I was LAARNG (A/2-156 IN in Breaux Bridge) from 1986 to 1988 (SSG 11B). Then I went off to school on an ROTC scholarship. I commissioned in May 1991. When I was notified of my branch I had no idea what an MSC was. Had to literally use an Army Officers Guide to figure it out. Twenty-five years later I am so thankful I wear a Silver Caduceus.

We have run in similar circles (five years apart) our entire careers. Guarantee I know you (or someone you know) even though I went USAR AGR in 2004. I serve as the Assistant Corps Chief for Reserve Affairs (appointed duty). And much respect brother. I did the AWC resident, graduating in 2010. I have seen what DDE students go through. You are earning that SSC.

Wouldn't be shocked that we crossed paths once or twice. I was at B Det, 5th PSB which was part of Warrior Brigade at the time.

Got to love Leesville. It seemed that The Oasis was on and off the off limits list as it would never fail someone would get in a fight. Usually between someone from 1/509th INF and 2nd ACR.
