Not enough info in original post to give decent advice.
Does OP want to be able to go out in Miami or Ft Lauderdale or both? Does OP want water views, ocean views, or doesn't care? Per night budget for room - $100 or $500?
So here is the best answer on limited info. Hyatt Pier 66 in Lauderdale or the Riverside Hotel in Las Olas are nice and give easy access to A-1A, US 1, and 95/595 in the Fort Lauderdale area and both are close to the beach. Either will run about $250 a night. Gault Ocean drive in Lauderdale has the best hotels on the beach in Lauderdale, but are on the north end of Lauderdale, not convenient to anything and will meet terrible traffic trying to get down Oakland to the main highways. $150-$250 a night.
Best Western, Comfort Suites are shitty hotels but right off 95 in Lauderdale that will allow you to jump on 95 and go wherever immediately. Budget option at $75-$100 a night. Again, shitty hotels with nothing in the area but a place to crash on a budget.
Here is my pick halfway between Lauderdale and Miami, on the intercoastal with water and beach views (across the street from Hallandale Beach). Nice Hotel, great tiki bar on the water, not too far to Lauderdale or Miami and 15 minutes from stadium. About $250 a night.

South Beach has too many options to list. Loews, SLS, Delano, and Sagamore are the elite hotels in the prime location at $300-$1000 per night. There is a Best Western that is a few blocks further north that is very large and a very nice Best Western. $200-$275 a night. Don't know of any budget hotels in SOBE, but there probably are some.
Forget about the Hard Rock. They are sold out every weekend. They don't have enough rooms and demand is through the roof. Sure, if you book far enough in advance, you can get standard room on the weekend for $400-$500, but it isn't worth it. That casino may be the most profitable in the U.S. and they have big time players there and they actually bump people out of rooms regularly that have reservations and send them about a mile down the road to a new hotel and even that one stays full. Its a really shitty deal, but they really do cancel peoples reservations on weekends regularly there.

Thanks, and what's the pros and cons of staying in FTL vs Miami?
Don't care about clubs, $150-250 a night not looking for more than that. I suppose looking for a place located between stadium, airport and a beach.

If you want laid back beach type bars and can handle some white trash douchebags, stay in Ft. lauderdale. Of you want hopping clubs with bottle service and can handle the European/South American douchebags, stay at South Beach.
Ft Lauderdale is cheaper.

Seriously, if you are just looking for a place to sleep and shower, and not worried about walking distance to hip shite, stay somewhere a little more inland. Look at some of the areas I posted earlier. You'll pay less and there's still plenty to do in those places ..

less sleaze, traffic, and a bit of a nicer place, good info from the last poster, I stayed in the Pier 66 for a month a few years ago and it was a great place to launch out of, directly across the intercoastal is a Marriott, or that's what it was the last time I was there, maybe a little better rate, and where most visiting teams that play the Marlins stay, so it should still be in decent shape

What do you want to do? How long in town?
Miami is really two areas of note: Downtown/Brikell and South Beach. Downtown has Bayfront park, the Heat arena and the hard core night clubs - Space, Eleven, and an 18 and over one that I can't think of the name of. They are the 24 hour Fri-Sun hardcore party places.
Brickell is the very nice (very crowded) financial and young professional area connected to downtown. Lost of nice restaurants and bars. Not so much clubs, but high end nice bars with lots of professionals and hot women. Great place for 20-30 somethings to socialize. No water views. Not touristy. Epic, Hyatt, Marriot are the hotels in Brickell to stay at.
South Beach is South Beach. Bars, clubs, restaurants beach. If you want to party a lot and do touristy stuff its SOBE, but you are a LONG damn way from the stadium. One hour minimum drive but you can take a bus or the rail to it.
Lauderdale is a younger crowd. Talking 18-25. It has a Bourbon Street type area lined with wall to wall bars and clubs in downtown. Nicer than Bourbon of course, but that type of bar hopping. I don't like it anymore. It has gone downhill due to the Hard Rock. Las Olas is in Fort Lauderdale as well, Mile from beach, super nice area, great place if you are looking for nice restaurants and bars but not clubs.
Hard Rock is probably the entertainment complex in South Florida. Too many bars, clubs, and restaurants to count and a casino, all in one place. It has everything including thousands of people every weekend.
To summarize: If you are here for few days and want to party balls, SOBE. If you want the nicest area and like the upscale restaurants and bars, Brickell or Las Olas. Either is about the same distance from the stadium (one south, the other north).
Diplomat and Crown Plaza in Hollywood beach are for if you are going to be here for a while and want to be able to try a lot of stuff. 20 minutes to Lauderdale, 25 minutes to south beach, 15 minutes to stadium, 15-20 minutes to Hard Rock. This is where I live. I go out in SOBE, Lauderdale, the Hard Rock and Brickell. You have the beach and intercoastal views as well.

I'm not familiar with it. Judging by where it is on the map, it will probably be an older art deco building that has been remodeled. You probably know more about it than me, but the buildings in that area have been there a long time and usually have smallish rooms but a great remodeled lobby.
You are right there for all the Washington Avenue clubs and walking distance to the main Ocean Drive bars and clubs, though it will be a long arse walk. 10th street through 17th street on Ocean Drive is the best part and looks like you are around 2nd street and a couple of blocks over from Ocean.
Your close to Nikki Beach. Hit it up anywhere from noon-midnight on Sunday (after dark its called Pearl). Trust me on this. You will NOT regret it. Sunday though, remember, preferably during the day for the beach party. Also, Saturday, head up to the SLS pool party on 18th street. Bring some cash for bottle service though. Otherwise you are talking at least a $40 cover for each dude and $18 drinks. Best pool party in SOBE. I'm there at least once or twice a month in the summer.

Check out the Diplomat and Crown Plaza in Hollywood beach.
Diplomat, you are on the beach and it is really a GREAT hotel. I like it a lot. Crown Plaza is on the other side of the street about 200 yards down, and has great intercoastal views. You cross the street, you are on the beach. Diplomat has more to do and is bigger though. That is your best bet if you want to be somewhat close to the stadium. And I would recommend a night at the Hard Rock complex. Maybe even after the game as it is close to Sun Life.
BTW, the diplomat is where one of the two teams that plays in the Orange Bowl stays every year. The other team stays at the Fountainblu about 10 miles to the south on the same road (Collins).
ETA: Also, I just checked prices at those two places. They aren't bad this far in advance and during the fall. About $100 less per night than they are going for right now.

to OP, drive up to Jupiter(+/-an hour,) for dinner at the Food Shack one evening, belongs to an old roommate of mine, never advertised and is regularly considered one of the top five seafood places on the east coast, he opened a bar next door, usually with live music, if there's a line, FL restaurants are known for ruining good seafood but this place is great, will cook to order and still has a dish or two on the menu that were my contributions

Unless you want to frequent downtown Miami before or after the game, stay in Ft Lauderdale. Miami driving can be bad and the traffic in downtown Miami and Miami Beach are the pits.

Someone earlier in the thread posted El Palacio. But honestly, if you're not looking for nightlife, you could stay there (in your budget) and it's within walking distance of a casino and Sun Life Stadium.

Forgot all about Gulfstream park. I guess living in this area I take it for granted since I've been going there for lunch/dinner/to watch games and taking dates there for several years.
Yeah to OP, check out the Diplomat and Crown Plaza. See which fits your budget the best for the weekend you are here. Crown Plaza will be in your price range. The Diplomat is worth $50 more per night if you can swing it. And you can spend an entire afternoon or night at Gulfstream. It is less than 1 mile from either. About a $7 cab ride either way and there are always plenty of cabs at either of those places.
Trust me on this. They are your best options for what you want. I've stayed in both (two weeks at the Crown Plaza). I live here now, can see both hotels and Gulfstream park from my balcony. You and GF thingy will be happy with either.
BTW, Frankies is the new sports bar that opened 2-3 months ago at Gulfstream. It is awesome. Nicest sports bar I have ever been in. Huge tall multi level, dark mahogany type wood, awesome center bar, of course great tvs every where, sorta low lit at night. It is a cross between a sports bar and restaurant you can take a date on. Yard House at gulfstream is a great restaurant and sports bar as well. Martini Bar upstairs from Yard House is great for drinks in a pretty outdoor setting in the middle of the park. Texas de Brazil is also in the park. It is a cool place, I have just gotten to where I take it for granted.
