The NWS are bland, informative, technical, and give their honest best-guess answer to what they think will happen.
If Margaret Orr chooses to take that info and tell people on the air to call their family and friends and tell them a tornado is about to hit them, that's not the fault of the NWS.
There are ways for the local tv mets to present information in a calm, rational manner. However, the vast majority of tv mets in this market, either don't have that ability, or choose not to use it.
I feel like most of the TV mets aren't even real scientists at all. They just take the information given to them by the NWS and dress it up for tv production.
Outside of David Bernard, I'm not sure NOLA has a legit on-air meterologist right now.
