He is the brother of my stepsons fiancé.The family is not wealthy and the medical bills will be large I am sure.Leonel is the father of a five year old girl and was shot in the leg and back of head. Today he opened his eyes for a minute but has a long way to go.

Hopefully his bills will be taken care of with the go fund me. That really sucks to hear. But people have been reaching out to help. With a family and being that severe, I'm sure the Nola gay community will do everything they can to help.

Even if the guy does have health insurance.....if he is/was in a coma, that means ICU care. That's $$$$ every day he remains in the ICU. Not to mention any surgeries he likely has had. Health insurance doesn't always cover that 100% so he still will receive bills to pay.

I really have no issue with people setting up GoFundMe pages for stuff like this. This is what they should be used for imo.

I think there was a gofundme set up for all victims and families that blew up pretty quickly. Hopefully this guy and his family can tap into that as well.

I'm guessing Leonel had health insurance based on where he worked. However, that may not cover all the health expenses or miscellaneous unforeseen expenses by the family or for his daughter. He has a great family, and I'm hoping he can pull through and recover.

Yeah my daughter has been battling Cancer I've got health insurance as well as supplemental cancer insurance. shite has still cost me a lot of money! In saying that though I wouldn't start a go fund me page.

How about making this post a sticky for the next forty eight hours? I think this would be appropriate

And that is just your opinion on it.

The guy was a victim of a horrific mass shooting. Something I hope none of us ever has to experience in our lifetime. If family wants to start a go fund me page to raise money for his medical expenses and help care for his child since he's obviously now not working(and feel like they are doing something to support him during this horrible, trying time) then I see nothing wrong with that.

Didn't say there was anything wrong with it just that I wouldn't.

He was in a club not a rest area.

I'm not going to post all his info on here, but he is divorced and a father to a wonderful little girl. His brother and brother's little girls were so excited because Leonel and his daughter were supposed to visit New Orleans for Father's Day. What a horrible change of events.

The only thing that man has ever been a victim of is donuts and the MLB's lack of universal designated hitter rules.

Ya me too, I was curious what the insurance was covering or not covering or not around at all.

I'm one who wishes insurance only covered catastrophic events. Pretty lame when it doesn't even do that.
