Why? Aren't they being charged with first degree murder?

In this case the garage door was open as was a side door to the house. I know it sucks but it's not the 50s anymore.

The son's friends had just left the garage a few minutes before. One news report said the friend got home at 11:45. That friend lived just down the street so he probably had walked. Son was probably closing up the house after the friends left the garage when the thugs circled back around the block to commit robbery.

If they can 100% prove the dad was sleeping when he was shot then I think this kid will get death.
He deserves nothing better than death but, unfortunately, he's 17. Anyone under 18 cannot get the death penalty in the US. Looks like we'll be paying for his housing, food, etc. for the rest of his life.

We need to start locking car thiefs up and not in the Jefferson Parish jail but in a Sheriff Joe Arpaio way( Sheriff in Arizona that houses them behindi barbed wire fenced areas in tents, makes them wear pink underwear and feeds them baloney sandwiches. No TV, no work out rooms, no basketball courts.

One of my best friends as a kid was white and from an upper class family in AZ, dad made over 500k got busted at 20 for using a stolen credit at a gas station and had to do a year and a day in the tents. It was his very first offense but that year totally turned his life around and now he has a great job and a family. The key is locking people up for a decent amount of time right when they start getting in trouble, you don't wait and let shite escalate. I do hate Sheriff Joe for other reasons but I do like that he doesn't play and will lock your arse away in a heartbeat if you don't follow the rules.

Rest easy knowing you were most likely doing that already.

bc the articles all say he had no major criminal history. i take that to mean he wasn't a so-called "lost cause"

Probably because he's been allowed to repeatedly plea down to lesser charges with minimal consequences.

Looks like a young Antoinette Frank to me. That evil bitch is still alive in our system after twenty years. How is that possible?
