re: Merging lanes...which driver are you?

The only benefit of merging at the very last merge point is if you are trying to avoid blocking something upstream. On the interstate, the only example of this would be an on ramp. Otherwise it just makes the bottle neck downstream worse because of the stopping it creates rather than a continuous flow. Dicks like to justify their actions in this case by claiming they are using all of the roadway capacity, but if you are somewhere that the queue doesnt back up to block any sort of intersection or driveway (arterial) or ramp (interstate), its a bad excuse. Youll see this a lot of times for lane closures in rural areas.
In this case, I rule that the drivers utilizing the merging lane til the very end were correct and that people who were blocking the lane can go frick themselves.

This particular merge is right after an intersection at greenwell springs and central thruway extension. Blocking the merge lane causes traffic to block the intersection.

Its not a merging lane, its an acceleration lane so you can merge.
Baton Rouge drivers need to stay in that lane until they speed the frick up enough. No one should merge on the interstate doing 20 or less like dumbass baton rouge drivers.

Merging with 110 off the MRB is so aggravating that I just cut through the hood.
The problem with this stretch is that there is very little warning that the right lane is exit only until you get near the turn, then you get a bunch of panicked truckers that have to stop because nobody will let them merge in. Also, see the above - you'll get the plant baws gunning it down the right lane and merge in the stripes after the lane is officially an exit.

This isn't an on-ramp scenario - the Greenwell Springs is where 2 lanes traveling east merge down to 1.

Zipper merge FTW. Any other way is retarded.

You have 3 options when you encounter a merging lane...
1) speed up
2) slow down
3) change lanes
1) speed up
2) slow down
3) change lanes

Going to florida from airline is another one. The lane extends well past the redlight yet people will stop as soon as the lanes meet.

You dumbshit. Did you even read the post? We are talking about merging into one lane not entering onto the interstate dumbdick.

What I can't stand is people driving down a right turning lane then trying to cut everyone off to get into the left turning lane. This happens every day at the Seigen exit and it's a real dick move. If you are turning left, get in that lane and wait.

I'm not letting someone past the merge point you dumbass

Waiting until the end to merge is a DICK move and slows everyone down. Don't fool yourself into thinking its some sort
Actually, it's the proper and most efficient way for 2 lanes to merge. It's called a zip merge and if everyone would wait until the lanes meet then take turns letting 1 car in it would be quick and seamless.

Zipper merging is a fallacy.

I always block that shite up. Double lane it for the win

th 10/110/wash exit has to be one of the worst engineered traffic designs in the country. Major interstate narrows into one lane entering a city
Posted on 3/22/16 at 8:03 pm to tigerbutt
Same principle dickhead, find and opening and merge. It's only hard for stupid shits like you.

Do you even understand what we are talking about? Damn it should be illegal for democrats to post here.

Doubtful team gun is a democrat
And man that is a low blow...play nice stick to dumbass, idiot, moron

We have that on I-10. Eff trying to go from three lanes to two in rush hour traffic. I just get on one exit later.

Everyone would move through the merge faster if they used both lanes up until the merge.
This is obviously correct - make the maximum use of pavement available.
The problem is that there are doofuses who merge early because they think it is "nice" and then get mad when someone shows them it was a bad idea.
