Bingo.
There will be no soft landing, only more casualties if she tries to white glove this. The mom is suffering NOW and pulling her daughter with her. Committing her might actually help......it will definitely help salvage your friends life. There will be guilt, but it’s about mitigating the situation. No need for all to go down needlessly.
I disowned my parents when they failed to seek sobriety. Father passed this year (also was bipolar) and I do speak with my mom now. BUT, I keep her at arms length. My children will NOT be affected.
