I can tell you, as will any representation worth a shite, that shutting the frick up is worth more than it's weight in gold.

Carry on.

There should be harsh laws towards false accusations. A man falsely accused suffers so many hits to his character, schooling/employment, family, etc.

Uh huh.

I'm a pretty firm believer that false accusations should result in criminal charges, as well as the accuser should be shielded until they are found guilty of their crime. There's a sad, sad strain of women who are using crying rape to avoid embarrassment over their sexual history.

That all said, there's a reason we have things like rape shield laws. I had a good friend who had to sit on a jury of a rape case and you'd be appalled by the logic some of the people on the jury used to defend the rapist. shite like "well maybe she shouldn't have dressed like that".

It's fricked up all around.

I recognize that is probably what most do as you never see the accused do that. All I'm saying is that would be easier said than done if that were to ever happen to me personally. In the public view, silence could be seen as guilt IMO...

It's a court of law, not public opinion.

This isn't fricking Gone Girl.

What? Courts aren't in the business of seeking truth, they're in the business of convincing arguments. And arguments can be more or less powerful because of emotion.

There was an NFL player who served six years because of an accusation like this and a shitty da who got a plea deal signed.

And that happened to a millionaire with millionaire lawyers, any one of us wouldn't have a chance.

So what about holding district attorneys responsible for false convictions? Is that something we could ever see?

There's such thing as a rape kit.

Also, other details to gauge the level of consent, besides a 'he said, she said'.

Y'all's view of rape is warped in an intolerable way, mostly by what you view/read in the news story.

Mike Nifong, DA during the Duke lacrosse fake rape accusation, was disbarred.

It's simple, really. Just don't get accused of rape and you've got nothing to worry about. Jeez.

So if we don't want to win stupid prizes then we should refrain from playing stupid games?

Metaphorical rape is considered by many legal scholars to be worse than traditional rape, literally.

As a metaphorical rape victim, I can confirm.
