We normally go camping in northern AZ in the higher elevation for memorial day to beat the heat. This year we decided not to cause of too much other stuff going on.

Good thing we didn't make plans to go camping. Majority of the forests in northern AZ(including all the places we usually camp at) are now closed to the public until further notice due to high risk of forest fires right now.
Thank you for our AZ update. We needed that in a beach on the gulf coast thread

I live in the Destin harbor.. really no big deal for me.. I’ll just cook, binge drink and binge watch Hulu and movies all weekend.. I’ll open my patio door and listen to the sounds of rain. I’m actually really looking forward to the rain.

I need a few days to just chill, relax and do nothing

Still can hear the ocean. Walk on the beach whenever the rain lets up a little. Relax and just chill and listen to the rain and ocean together.

Many years ago now, when I was in grad school at Meeechigan, a bunch of us went up to da U.P. for a long Memorial Day weekend on the shoreline of Lake Superior (Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore)

The weather sucked. It was cold and drizzly, but there we were so we hiked and looked at the scenery and tried to enjoy just being away from working.

On our last evening, the drizzle stopped and the cloud cover broke. It was already dark, so it was still cold AF, but damnit I was at the beach and I was going to go out on the damn beach. So I did. I was laying in the cold cold sand wearing about 3 layers of sweats and looking at the stars and moon and stuff, trying to see if I could see satellites.

And the Northern Lights came out.

OP - do it. Heavy sunshine is very overrated, anyway; get out and enjoy the gray.
