It's a shame. That place was like 10-15 years ahead of its time.

How many people even know that BR once had an operating brew pub?

Mother's Mantle
Scarlett O'Hara's
Ticket takers allowing food to be brought into Tiger Stadium
Fleur de Lis Pizza (still the best!)
IHOP across from University Cinema
39cent Hamburger Stand
The DougOut
the Front Nine across the street from CEBA before CEBA existed
the commercials for IGA groceries: "BetR, Buster's, Blue Ribbon, Hi Nabor, Laurel Lea, Airline Payless, Villa Oaks, and Reeves"
Denny Braud's Sports Shop
Chalet Brandt
The Village

Fixed it. I used to hang out on Chimes Street when I was at LSU ('79-'84) and practically lived in the Bayou. The area wasn't anything like it was "back in the day." Leisure Landing was gone as was the Bayou. The "Ghetto" literally collapsed on itself and was a danger and an eyesore. All the businesses on Chimes and West State had pretty much folded or moved south of campus.

Just-picked chocolate covered Louisiana strawberries in the Union.

I was a busboy/dishwasher there in high school. This was circa 1992. Really neat place to work. Chris LeBlanc played solo acoustic every Friday night. His acostic versions of Hey Joe and Watchtower got me into Hendrix.

Anybody remember the G&S Record Exchange by the Gatti's on Highland where the Gap used to be?

Is that what the name was? I know what you're talking a/b. The whole area is so different than it used to be. Remember when the Varsity was actually a theatre?

Slick Traxx ftw!!!!!!!

before CBS moved in, it was THE white trash hang out. Well, unless you were one of those gay white "gangsta" types (read 3bm). . .in which you got beat up by frat boys on Chimes. Those were the days.

Chris' and the Fishbowls only can be topped by years of alcoholism with Tommy the bartender at the Happy Note- second hand smoking and realizing the cheesiest interiors were all here. Running out and getting McDonald's and eating at the bar in the Happy Note.

Mickey's Gold Nugget

Senor Puppet,

The Times, The Cold, The ShX Dogs, tons of other crappy local bands,

The start of it all on the street where the Gold Club and the Station is now.......Pharoah's - was never old enough and it didn't last long, but they had a cool sign.
