Anybody know if the water has gone down all the way between Sherwood and Millerville, say around Fairview up to Sherwood Manor, those subdivisions?
It's all gone. Only water standing in that part is over greenwell springs road and Flannery.

Side with Sid. I don't trust scavengers while I'm not able to get home.

Who is going to enforce this imaginary curfew? The Sheriffs Office?
The Sheriff Office is afraid of the dark. They won't come into Baton Rouge after dark, it's common knowledge.

Seriously? not sure how they get away with that. Edit: that makes sense if you are going go.
Yeah. You can't come and go from the property as you see fit.

Assuming that some people follow the "imaginary" curfew, then, yes
Does it make you comfortable to believe that? If the answer is yes, you have the luxury of not knowing the truth. I envy you.

All criminals follow a curfew.

I'm Sid here.
Cuts down on the workload for most citizen watch groups, who are no doubt stretched thin, and being pushed to the brink.

Listen, moron, I am always comfortable.
The question is, does it help the police, national guard, etc be more comfortable and do their important jobs rescuing people and minimizing chaos during this event? If so, and I'm assuming it does otherwise the police wouldn't have ordered it, then I am just fine with a minor inconvenience at night, during the week, for a few days after the worst fricking flood event in our history.
As I said, I do understand the frustration of people who make their money at night. But, safety of the people has to come first. It just has to. I trust the police to make that decision.
And, listen, if we're three weeks removed from this event, and there is still a curfew in place, then yeah, frick that shite, something is up. But people were still being evacuated today, just hours ago. So, yeah, I'm comfortable. I'm sitting in my recliner drinking beer and arguing with idiots online, my favorite Tuesday activity.
But, please, enlighten me of this "truth" you speak of. This is the first step of Obama instating martial law? HRC has control of BRPD?

nannying the majority to target a small minority....no bueno

Not sure how someone driving down college to get a taco has any affect on people being rescued or safety. Not sure where you are getting this idea of chaos. The fact that the Sheriff had do an end around to get this is telling enough.

Exactly. Someone looking to loot isn't going to stop tonight because there's a curfew.
Actively patrol the flooded areas where criminal activity could be higher.

Well, yes, that's exactly the point. The looters WONT obey the curfew.
But if it's just a random Tuesday night with kids driving down college to get tacos and a truck full of tvs and stereos equipment is also driving down college, the cops can't just pull over the truck for no reason.
If a truck full of stuff is driving tonight they are absolutely getting pulled over.
It's so easy to loot in flooded areas with no power and not be seen during the act. And there aren't enough cops to just put one on every street.
Now they have reasonable cause to pull over ANYONE driving tonight, which hopefully will catch any potential looters, either before or after the fact.

Remember the "Patriot Act" was a shitstorm of depriving people of Civil Rights that is still happening today. It was passed after 9/11.
People died protecting our rights. People fought protecting our rights.
Politicians love a good disaster to grab power.
If you let ANYTHING slide without a fight, you deserve to lose it all and might as well have fought with our enemy.
Dramatic you say, frick you I say. I didn't fight to give it up for some jackass stealing boats that ought to be insured anyway. If I want to get a goddam burger at 1:00 am and my street didn't flood who the frick are you to tell me no because you built in a swamp and moved back in with your cousin?
People died for these rights and not to save your fricking 4-wheeler. They died for the principle of it.

The Sheriff's Office is a charming little group. That's why I live here. A reserve dominated social club led by a politician. But come on Sheriff, let the professionals handle the heavy lifting and you guard the prison and courthouse.
I know real Sheriffs. Their names are Jeff Wiley and Jason Ard, and you Sir, are neither.

You aren't wrong... But I think extending curfew for a day or two isn't even in the same ballpark as the governmental abortion that was the patriot act.
Posted on 8/16/16 at 10:48 pm to Fatty Magoo
Sorry but the idea that the movements of the whole city should be restricted to maybe stop looters on the other side of town is pretty weak. While you can't put cops on every street you now have cops that could be patrolling flooded areas looking for those out after curfew.
