My brother (an attorney working in construction litigation) stumbled across an online curriculum through LSU for a masters of science in Construction Management at LSU.

It’s all online and can be completed in a year (allegedly).

He’s contemplating moving into disaster recovery construction management and opening up his own shop.

Is degree worth anything or would it be beneficial to his pursuits?

We does he feel like he needs that degree if he's going out on his own? That program is not solely focused on Disaster Recovery.

I'd say nah. You had to take some business classes in the CM degree, but the classes themselves weren't really about operations overall. Mostly focused on the fundamentals and technical aspects.

He'd do better getting a MBA if he feels so inclined to get a masters.

I think he’s just wanting overall knowledge to maybe avoid pitfalls associated with the work. Apparently, construction management companies, in the DR area, are supervising and guiding actual construction companies for grant management type companies.

He'd be better off just making up a fake contractor license number and watching the news praying for a hurricane

Ain't that the truth. No one will ask for their license and will pay the full amount of the job before you even finish.
