How the hell does a fire get that much out of control in a high rise? Surely they have fire supresssion systems
Fire starts in the walls and spreads rapidly through the ceiling. When it reaches a temperature and size that the sprinkler system is then like pissing on it. The amount of water you need to put on a single piece of furniture, like a couch is unreal. There isn't enough water pumping through those systems to put out a fully envolved room. So the fire just consumes room by room in seconds. The heat is probably so high that rooms will flash over and just burst into flames.
It's going to take firefighters getting up inside to different levels hooked up to the stand pipes fighting it with hose lines. Also there are probably latters dumping water on the outside as high as they can get. (Most likely 12 foors at max.
That is a dangerous fire. Those beams will bend with the heat causing collapses inside the building.
Hopefully those guys fighting it all make it out.
Any word on the casualties? I'm not around a tv.

They have not reported any to this point.

They are saying this thing started pretty low, 20th story or below.
CNN just said that it was an external fire and fire suppression systems could suppress fire internally for a while. Hopefully enough time for people to get out.
It's 11pm local time, one hour until planned firework shows there.

Dubai officials say fire broke out on 20th floor of The Adress, originated from outside the hotel.

Officials say Dubai fire has been 90% controlled & in 30 mins it'll be out *looks at CNN liveshot* I'm skeptical.

I wonder if they are concerned the building will collapse.

lol...
If I'm only looking at 10%, then I hate to se what the inside looked like!

That's a lie. That fire will take 6 hours or more to bring completely under control. I don't know much in life, but I've fought hundreds of fires in a big city.
