That's true for you, but that's not true for everyone. Some couples begin dating with the understanding that they want to have sex with other people sometimes. They often have specific rules, like "don't ask don't tell" if they don't want to hear about the other people. Or sometimes they're very open about it, and genuinely feel happy for the other person if they're getting laid. Sometimes they have a strict rule that if you have sex with someone else, you have to involve the other partner (threesomes only, for instance). It just depends on the couple.

Those couples are called roommates, not husband and wife.

Did he say what about this? Did one want to leave the lifestyle and the other wanted to stay?

I always liked Shortyrob's take on this. He offered great insight as to why it worked for some and not others.

I don't know all the details other than they use to "dabble" in the swinger lifestyle and apparently she started screwing a guy she'd met at one of their parties. Husband found out and the rest is history.

And if you'd have known this couple, you'd have never guessed they were into this sort of thing. They're from a well connected and respected, lived in the nicest sub-division in our town, and generally looked to be the standard "all-American" family. Sad part of it is they had two kids. One was too young to know what was going on but the older one came out of the divorce pretty messed up.

So even if they are in love with each other, have an intimate emotional connection, are married, and have children... they're just roommates?

no i am not, and im not talking about swingers in general. I get the idea of it. Im just saying why even be married? Why "settle down" id you want to live that lifestyle.
Why not? If you find another person who you love, who understands you, who treats you well, who meets all your other needs, why wouldn't you consider marrying that person? If both of you are okay with the other person having sex with someone outside the marriage, what harm does it do?

You seem to believe that it's impossible for people to be okay with their partner having sex with someone else, and you're working from that assumption. But what if you're wrong? If there are couples like that, why wouldn't they get married?

Maybe you don't believe those people exist, but wouldn't you agree that if they do, it's understandable?

I'm not saying it's for everyone. It's not for me. But I believe it can work for some people.

You can't take anything here that seriously my man. This place is filled with goofballs that either can't make relationships work but "it's totally their choice." Or you have young kids that don't know what the frick they are doing anyway. Plus, we all live in 10K sqft houses, run 4.3 40s, bench 425lb and all of our wives are current or ex-Victoria Secret Angels.

You can argue all you'd like. Two people that are intimately in love and frick other people aren't normal. Call it love, call it roommates, call it whatever you want, but that shite ain't normal.

his article list the top 10 reasons people get divorced. I actually thought finances were #1
That list is just the opinions of those people polled. The #1 thru #10 reasons for divorce is lack of commitment.

No, I absolutely believe that to be true. I also believe that there are real people out there like Yogaretaeh who believe in contrails and hurricane machines. Or people who believe that NAMBLA is a legitimate lifestyle. Just because someone believes it, that doesn't make it the truth. It also doesn't make it any less fricked up.

Because by definition, you're defeating the idea of marriage. You want to be "committed" to that person and live together, great, but being married in that lifestyle is a farce.

The parents & the couple they were swinging with got divorced and ended up marrying the person from the other couple..

Something like this happened with two major league baseball players back around 1970 or so, they literally swapped wives. One of the new pairups actually lasted too, the other did not.

I never said there was a problem with a side piece for the husband. You can't really do all the unspeakable shite to the mother of your children. It's a matter of respect.
