Notwithstanding the merits of the article, I can count on one hand the number of people I know who are habitual marijuana users whom I would consider successful individuals.

This applies for me as well.

Then again, I only know about 4 or 5 habitual users.

You do have good points, but you forgot to add take the guns...

People who drink everyday generally become alcoholics with liver damage.
People who eat a tub of ice cream and fried food daily generally become obese and have diseases.
If you smoke pot daily it’s likely to have a few negative effects like anything else.
Plenty of people do it occasionally as a release and they do just fine.

Wow thanks for the information. Here I was trapping myself in small spaces taking copious amounts of acid hoping that would make me psychotic... I could have just been smoking weed the whole time.

That dirt weed we smoked in the late 70's and early 80's wasn't very strong, so I guess us 60 year old former daily smokers are going to be OK!

How dem test for mid-80's coke heads looking?

Marijuana is incredibly strong nowadays. I can see it. I think everyone has had an edible experience that has given them the heeby-jeebies.

There’s a difference though in some paranoia when consuming a high THC product and full on psychosis. Especially schizophrenia.

I am pretty heavily mentally ill. General Anxiety Disorder, Clinical Persistent Depressive, insomnia and ADD in the 94th percentile. I am no doctor.

My Psych tole me this week she was concerned with my almost daily usage because of studies like this. She is actually 420 friendly, but is weary of the new high grade shite especially the vape. Not for the lungs, but for this.

CBD/THC usage has allowed me to:
-completely get Xanax out and as far away from my life as possible
-cut booze consumption by roughly 60%
-Never need Z-Quil, Ambien, Etc - Sleeping meds suck
-Reduce Adderall intake by 25% because now I don't need it to sleep

I have lost about 20lbs, my kids like me more, my wife likes me more, my friends like me more, and I like me more. I'm more creative. I'm more thoughtful. I'm better at my job (just got a raise). I actually feel like I have more to offer the world because for the first time in my goddamn life, I know what it is like to feel comfortable in my own skin and slow down to focus on the here and now.

All of this is anecdotal, but in some of the circles I run in because of the mental illness, my story is not unique. Pot was my 'gateway' to a better life. I don't get blasted and sink into the couch. I go through a gram or less per week.

I wrote this with a little minor buzz.

Maybe it's just me, but I've never perceived a mental drop-off from pot, nor do I feel mentally sharper when I'm not using it.

It's been several years since I've used pot (mostly because I don't have a particularly easy way to get it) and I'm not any smarter for abstaining. I'm not really better at anything at all, other than passing drug tests.

Well, maybe I am a bit better at relating to other people, since pot kind of puts you into your own little world sometimes. That is one good thing I can say about not using pot... for whatever that's even worth. It's not like NBC is having me guest host the Tonight Show or anything.
