Manhattan's district attorney has dropped part of the criminal caseagainst disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein.

Weinstein appeared in Manhattan Criminal Court on Thursday morning as Judge James Burke decided to dismiss count six of the eight-count indictment against the 66-year-old film producer. It deals with sexual assault allegations by one of three accusers in the case, Lucia Evans.

The 36-year-old former actress said she had struggled with the decision to make a formal complaint against the disgraced movie mogul in an interview published by The New Yorker on Thursday evening.

'At a certain point, you have to think about the greater good of humanity, of womankind,' she told Ronan Farrow.

Evans was one of the first women to speak out about Weinstein's alleged abuses last fall.  Before

Weinstein's attorney, Benjamin Brafman, said after the indictment they uncovered over 40 emails suggesting Evans had a longtime affair with Weinstein and that the 2004 encounter was consensual, WCBS 880's Marla Diamond reported.

There were also allegations that a police detective may have improperly coached a witness prior to her testimony before the grand jury, Diamond reported earlier. The NYPD said it is has launched an internal probe into those allegations.

More than 80 women have accused Mr. Weinstein of sexual harassment or assault and have said they were attacked after being lured to his office or to hotel rooms with the impression they would discuss potential acting roles. The flurry of accusations spurred the global #MeToo movement. Women have since publicly shared their experiences of sexual harassment and assault by powerful men in the workplace.

Mr. Weinstein has repeatedly denied wrongdoing and maintains that the relationships with his numerous accusers were consensual.

So over 80 accusers, but now just down to 2 women the case against him is based on?

I said this way back when. If this guy out right raped any women, fine put him in jail, but if he was like "hey arse for movie role" either say yes and deal with the consequences or say no. That shouldn't be a legal matter though.
