Average male human vs 1 wolf. You get your choice of baseball bat, or knife(6 inch blade). Who ya got? I think most people could frick a wolf up. The reason they are so deadly is hecasur they are a pack animal by itself it is just an overgrown dog. People all the way.
There was a video on youtube of a man doing this exact thing up in Alaska or some northern state. Can't find the video but was basically stalked by a lone wolf and was away from his truck (which had his guns) and the wolf attacked and he only had a knife. He eventually stabbed it to death and the wolf was pretty big. Dude admitted that he got lucky that the wolf was alone.

Although I agree with this sentiment, in this particular case I believe the knife is the wiser choice.
If that wolf wants to get up on your arse, it's going to do so. Anywhere inside arms reach, the knife is 10x more effective than the bat.
In the age old Man vs Man, knife or bat, I take the bat 10/10...but against an animal as quick and powerful as a wolf, you have to assume you're getting up close and personal, and you need to be able to damage it if it's got one of your limbs in it's mouth, which it probably will.

When properly wielded a bat would suffice. Different combat strategy, but still effective if executed well.
Plus a bat would give you something to stick in it’s Mouth other than your arm. Or choke it from behind like the guy that killed the mountain lion

Yea surely the bat could be plenty effective, I'm just seeing the margin for error as razor thin. Knife gives you an excellent chance at survival even in a near-worst case scenario.
Kind of an interesting juxtaposition....with the bat you could potentially walk away unscathed, albeit you need a lot of things to go right to walk away at all. With the knife, a lot can go wrong and you could still come out on top, but even best case you will almost surely have some injuries.
