The dog is gonna take the weak arm you offer him and start violently shaking his head and pulling backwards. Your arm is going to be ripped to shreds and he will eventually pull you down to his level. Game over then

Again, I have an 85# adult male German Shepherd Dog. He's fast, in shape, and his bite is stronger than a trashy pit bull.
But I have no doubt I or most men have the physical ability to kill him with bare hands if needed. I'll take some damage and will need a few stitches, but he'll be dead.
The point above many people don't have the mental or psych ability to do it when needed is true,I hadn't thought of that. You don't need to be a psycho or superbadass or roid rage guy to do it. But the idea that a large amount of people have lost their instinct of self preservation is likely very true.
