cool, good to know. i do 15% into the 401(k) plus other savings accounts and a couple of rent houses. all the online retirement calculators i do are all over the place. some say i'll come up short, some say i'm on track. it's nice to hear some real world numbers for a change.
Find a good financial advisor and listen to ehatchry have to say. When I was younger I invested aggressively and it paid off. I’ve reigned it somewhat in as I’ve gotten older. But now it’s reached a point that my retirement grows at an increasingly growing rate. It’s like a snowball, as it rolls downhill it grows slowly at first but with time it gains speed and momentum that makes it grow faster and faster.

My best advice to you is avoid debt and pay off as early as possible whatever debt you have. Set yourself a goal, get good professional advice on how to reach that goal, and then stick to it.

Hey LCA
Fr33, panhandlers make me sad. I volunteer with local organizations to serve that population in lieu of handouts.
Darth, your wife and kiddos are lucky to have you

Go right ahead. But I can’t really help you with details. I don’t remember anything. To me it was like one second it was 6 PM and the nurses were telling me to get in my bed and the next second it was 1 AM and I was waking up with a breathing tube down my throat wondering what the hell just happened. Everything in between is a complete blank.

I was busy at lunch. Had a Monte Kristo sandwhich and a bowl of potato soup from a fancy little boutique type of lunch place.
Raspberry iced tea.
It was really good.

How old are you? And do you have a fincical advisor? If not, I strongly suggest finding one ASAP.

Hey Slagathor. Anything entertaining in here today?
Re. Retirement. I can tell you exactly what not to do. Don't save in a marginal kind of way, and then have surprise twins when you're 42. What that will guarantee is that you will never retire. But there is an upside to that because I try to make lemonade when I've been given lemons, and that is you don't really have to worry that much about retirement funds.
